Sumaq Tusuy: Watching You, Watching Me
Outside of their context, our dance traditions are often reduced to spectacle and entertainment- taking away their true value and expression. Many of our dances are responses, resistance, satire, and also celebration. I continue to develop my response, an attempt to express my deep love and respect for our dance traditions and the knowledge they embody while at the same time protecting the dancers and making the viewers very aware of their presence in this action.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the community that made this activation possible.
Thank you to Aldeide and WOPHA for inviting me to be part of this Gathering in the context of the photographic work of Peruvian photographers Diana Larrea and Zonia Zena
