Borges, Reimagined at Nova Southeastern University, September 2026.

Presented as part of the Argentine-Latin American Film & Art Festival at Nova Southeastern University, Borges, Reimagined brings contemporary Latin American art into dialogue with literature, cinema, and cultural thought.

Conceived within the Festival’s tribute to Jorge Luis Borges, the presentation brings together works by Esteban Machado Díaz and Carlos Guzmán, each approaching the writer’s extraordinary universe through an independent visual language.

Rather than illustrating Borges, the artists reinterpret the questions that permeate his work time, memory, identity, infinity, labyrinths, and the shifting boundary between reality and imagination.

Carlos Guzmán - Essential Bond
A Tribute to Jorge Luis Borges

Essential Bond brings together memory, imagination, knowledge, and the written word within a single symbolic universe.

Borges appears not simply as a portrait, but as the point of origin of a network that extends beyond him. The butterfly, the mechanisms, the bird, the flowers, and the young reader reveal different ways in which thought can be transformed, preserved, and transmitted.

Through this visual dialogue, Carlos Guzmán reflects on literature as an enduring connection between human beings across time. What is written passes from one generation to another, entering new memories and imaginations while continuing to carry traces of its origin.

The essential bond, then, is not only between writer and reader. It is the invisible continuity that allows an idea to survive its creator and find new forms of existence.

Borges, Reimagined at Nova Southeastern University, September 2026.

Four works by Esteban Machado Díaz, Ileana Mulet and Carlos Guzmán enter into dialogue with the literary universe of Jorge Luis Borges exploring time, memory, identity, infinity, and the boundary between reality and imagination.

Presented as part of the Argentine-Latin American Film & Art Festival at Nova Southeastern University, Borges, Reimagined brings contemporary Latin American art into dialogue with literature, cinema, and cultural thought.

Conceived within the Festival’s tribute to Jorge Luis Borges, the presentation brings together works by Esteban Machado Díaz, Ileana Mulet, and Carlos Guzmán, each approaching the writer’s extraordinary universe through an independent visual language.

Rather than illustrating Borges, the artists reinterpret the questions that permeate his work time, memory, identity, infinity, labyrinths, and the shifting boundary between reality and imagination.

Borges, Reimagined invites us to consider how literature continues to resonate beyond the written word through images, memory, and imagination.

Through the distinct visual languages of Esteban Machado Díaz, Ileana Mulet, and Carlos Guzmán, the exhibition opens new paths into the literary universe of Jorge Luis Borges, allowing his questions to be encountered again through contemporary Latin American art.

Roselle Gallery continues this dialogue by creating spaces where artists, ideas, and audiences can meet across disciplines, generations, and geographies.
