River of Grass is a site-specific installation featuring 20 artists addressing the Florida Everglades’ ecological and cultural narrative.
Custom-built, 6-foot square looms serve as both a canvas and an architectural element, creating corridors of woven environments in the galleries.
These sculptural interpretations of this vital Florida ecosystem using fiber arts, natural elements, and weaving techniques are both inspired by and an homage to the 1947 book by Marjory Stoneman Douglas, “The Everglades River of Grass”.
