Thank you to everyone who voted in our Forms of Rockin’ post poll! Anssi Arte’s Forms of Rockin’ has been a part of Museum of Graffiti exhibitions for years, and now we’re giving it its own place in our collection with a Limited Edition T-Shirt. Featuring the Bubble Style on the front and the lineup of Forms of Rockin’ styles printed across the back, this shirt celebrates an important chapter in graffiti history. 

Bubble Style emerged during the early days of graffiti, when writers were experimenting with new letterforms and pushing the boundaries of style. Writers like Phase 2, Comet, Blade, and Jester helped develop the form into what we recognize today. The Bubble Style lives on in graffiti culture and remains a foundation of the throw-up. Available exclusively at the Museum of Graffiti.

DEK 2DX is a Brooklyn graffiti writer and member of the 2DX crew. Known for his fun, distinctive lettering and dedication to NYC’s graffiti culture, DEK has also helped build community through projects like Morgan District Walls, creating spaces for writers to paint, connect, and keep the culture moving forward.

Happy 70th Birthday to FLINT 707!

Here’s a clip from our Podcast Episode 13 featuring FLINT 707 who is also featured in the Origins Exhibition at the Museum of Graffiti open to the public. FLINT 707 is a graffiti writer from New York City, a true pioneer who helped shape graffiti from subways to gallery spaces. He built his reputation through clean letter structure, strong color control, and painting 3D letters on the subways - all as a teenager. A true legend!

From the Post Office to the Streets. ✍🏽
The USPS postal Label 228 became a staple of graffiti culture. Writers were already experimenting with stickers as a way to get their names up quickly. In the 1980s, commercial “Hello My Name Is” stickers became one of the early canvases for writers. Then, in 1991, the U.S. Postal Service introduced Label 228, a large adhesive Priority Mail label that would eventually become one of the most recognizable sticker canvases in graffiti. 

Free, easily accessible, and built to stick, USPS labels offered writers a blank surface for tags, pieces, characters, and elaborate handstyles. By the late 1990s and early 2000s, postal slaps had become deeply embedded in the culture, appearing on poles, mailboxes, street signs, windows, trains, and walls around the world. What started as an everyday piece of postal infrastructure became a portable canvas—and another tool for writers to leave their mark.

A true pioneer of New York City graffiti and a member of the culture’s first generation. COCO144 began writing his name in the late 1960s and became known for taking his tag across the city. He was also a founding member of United Graffiti Artists (UGA), helping bring graffiti from the streets and subway trains into galleries. From the early days of the culture to today, COCO144’s legacy continues to influence graffiti history.
