This Historic Hampton House over in Northwest Miami (FL) was built in 1954…

The state archives of Florida re-digitized that amazing ‘Torch of Friendship’ film promoting the hotel in Miami.

Originally known as the Booker Terrace Motel, the Historic Hampton House was built in 1954 and designed by Miami Modern architect Robert Karl Frese. Seeing this film and US around this design and space and chillin. Wow.

It opened during an era of legal racial segregation and notably hosted meetings of prominent Black civil rights leaders, athletes and entertainers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

‼️New date!! PHILLY PUBLIC CLASS next Thursday Dec 11th @ the Cecil B. Moore Library‼️

We heading into town to share the next city-based edition of our public class, an intergenerational vibe on all things “US AND THE CITY”!!

We going be doing our city surveying, “deep listening”, trivia and prize giveaways how we do.
(Yes - we will have a bunch of tees, flashcards and thangs on site for yall too!!)
