SoundCloud is beta-testing a new feature that lets artists sell music directly to fans from their profiles on the platform, without commission.

The streaming platform launched direct music purchases to a select group of 200 U.S.-based Artist Pro creators yesterday, before it goes live for all eligible creators this fall.

The feature means fans can buy and download MP3 and WAV. files without leaving SoundCloud, while artists set their own prices and keep 100% of each sale, excluding applicable fees and taxes. Participating artists can also track sales through the platform’s Artist Studio and Fan Support Dashboard.

“Artists should be able to build their audience in one place, on one platform,” SoundCloud CEO Eliah Seton said in a statement. “SoundCloud has always been where artists find their first fans and build real communities. We’re continuing to bring more of what they need to grow their careers into that same experience, while letting fans directly support the music they love.”

The move comes in response to clear demand for music sales on the platform. According to SoundCloud, more than 250,000 artists have directed fans to other external platforms to buy music and linked over 2.4 million tracks for purchase, earning clicks from almost half a million SoundCloud users each year. They also found that 28% of surveyed artists either already sell music downloads or want to start.

The feature is the latest in a series of pro-artist moves from SoundCloud. In 2025, the platform launched an all-in-one artist services subscription that combines distribution, fan support, and merch sales. Last month, after Nina Protocol’s owners decided to wind down the company, SoundCloud announced it had acquired the independent music service, which lets artists build and run their own digital stores on the blockchain.

Klangkuenstler has announced his biggest Outworld show yet.

The German schranz heavyweight will bring his signature Outworld event series to MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf, Germany, on April 4, 2027, marking the series’ largest event to date with more than 60,000 people expected to attend. The stadium event will also serve as Klangkuenstler’s only European Outworld date until summer 2027.

The move to a stadium brings Outworld to an entirely new scale without changing the creative vision behind the series. Klangkuenstler explained that the venue will be divided into three sections, all offered at the same price, with no VIP areas in keeping with Outworld’s inclusive approach. The stadium was also chosen in part for its ability to accommodate a production designed to make an impact from every vantage point. Outworld’s dystopian sci-fi aesthetic will be expanded to match the scale of the venue, with imposing industrial structures and expansive lighting designed to remain visible from every seat.

Germany’s RIFT Recordings has suffered a setback after its YouTube channel was abruptly taken down by the platform.

“We are deeply saddened to share that our YouTube channel has been removed without any copyright strikes or prior warnings,” organizers of the Dortmund-based DJ mix series wrote in a statement posted to Instagram yesterday.

The burgeoning broadcast outfit known for spotlighting emerging hardgroove and schranz DJs confirmed that each of its previously published mixes and its entire community of 45,000 subscribers vanished from YouTube over the weekend. Despite the takedown, they’ve reuploaded each mix to a new YouTube channel, where they’ll continue to share new sets.

“This loss hits us hard,” their statement continued. “The hours, the passion, and the connection we built through this channel meant a lot to the whole RIFT team, and we know many of you felt the same. We will not be stopped by this.”

Since its launch in 2025, the platform, founded and curated by Dortmund DJ Per Pleks, has emerged as a leading curator of Germany’s rapidly growing bounce techno scene, anchored by breakout performances from rapidly emerging artists such as Fumi, HUJUS, ÜBERKIKZ, GNRØ, Alarico, Serafina and more, recorded from its abandoned warehouse space in North Rhine-Westphalia.

ARC Music Festival just announced its massive run of city-wide afterparties.🔥

When the mammoth house and techno festival returns to Chicago’s Union Park on Labor Day Weekend, ARC After Dark will keep the party pumping with nightly afters at 10 venues across the city from September 3-7.

The run opens with late-night takeovers from Sara Landry’s HEKATE Records and Hot Meal at Serum, Azzecca at Castaways, and Luke Dean at Spybar on Thursday, September 3, before the calendar kicks into high gear at seven more locations throughout the weekend.

Friday highlights include Chris Stassy and Silva Bumpa at Radius, Chase & Status at Cermak Hall, Max Dean and Tommy Phillips at Concord Music Hall, MEDUZA at Serum, and Tiga and Ben UFO at Metro, while underground favorites such as Joy Orbison, Pegassi, camoufly, and Brunello take Smartbar, Smoke & Mirrors, Outset, and Spybar, respectively.

Teletech is touching down in Montreal.🔥

After hosting a stage at Igloofest earlier this year, the Manchester-born hard techno party series will return to Montreal for a landmark show at the city’s 50,000-capacity Olympic Stadium on November 14.

Marking the brand’s Canadian stadium show debut following its North American club tour earlier this year, Teletech Montreal will feature massive performances from French genre superstar I Hate Models, Amsterdam-based duo Cybersex, German schranz favorite Jowi, and Berlin hard house sensation PRADA2000, with more names to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Dutch National Ballet is putting an electronic spin on ‘Swan Lake’ for a special show at Amsterdam’s famous Gashouder during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).🔥

When electronic music’s foremost industry gathering returns to the Dutch capital for its 30th anniversary edition this fall, “Swan Lake Remixed” will fuse ballet, hip-hop dance, and electronic music in a reimagining of Tchaikovsky’s classical 19th-century ballet at the gas factory-turned cultural venue in Amsterdam West on October 21.

Directed by Ernst Meisner and Marco Gerris, composed by Rik Ronner, and performed by the Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective, the one-off show will help kick off ADE’s opening program of cultural events as part of the conference and festival’s 30 YEARS ADE Icon series.

Professional and junior dancers from the national ballet company will join forces with performers from the collective for what’s described in a press release as a compelling production “in which tradition and innovation challenge and enrich one another.”

“Themes from Swan Lake, such as longing, freedom, temptation and the tension between light and darkness, are given new relevance and urgency at Gashouder,” reads an excerpt from the release. “After all, the questions at the heart of this famous ballet may be more relatable today than ever: How can you be who you want to be? Which temptations do you give in to? And how do you find your own way between the pull of darkness and the longing for light?”

In addition to ADE’s 30th anniversary, the production is also meant to coincide with the 150th anniversary of ‘Swan Lake’ in 2027, 10 years of partnership between the Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective, and 25 years of XSAGA, the concept and production agency leading the tech behind the show.

Across the rest of the city, ADE unfolds over five days and five nights from October 21-25, featuring performances from more than 3,000 artists at more than 1,000 events held in over 200 venues.
