Abre Camino Collective
Before Victoria and Vanessa met, they were both looking for an artistic soulmate. The person that could see what was inside their heads, nod, and say, “And then…” instead of “But...”
The details went a bit like this: They first met when Victoria offered to direct Vanessa’s short, The Crocodile’s Bite, which had been selected for the Sam French OOB Festival in New York City.
One could say, “The rest is history.” But really, it was as simple as keeping in touch. Then, Vanessa was presented with AMPARO, which at the time went by a different name altogether. Working on that project, they realized they had something to say; they had a voice, not just as individuals, but collectively. That, in fact, their voices were amplified when working as one. And so, they came together and created Abre Camino Collective to ensure they could bring to life the work they see as important, influential, and connected to those around them. And ultimately, to help open the path for other artists they believe in to do the same.
