🔎 Take a close look at this painting… what do you see? 👀

In 1951, artist Jackson Po***ck began a series of paintings solely consisting of black paint that he carefully poured onto an unprimed canvas. These new compositions were more delicate and minimal rather than bold and energetic.

***ck also brought back elements of figuration into these works. If you look closely you might spot an eye in the upper-left corner as well as faces and bodies in other artworks in the series. This simplified approach opened a new creative path that helped lay the groundwork for Minimalism.
