Top 16 of the 2025–26 season! 🎺 At number 1: “American Dance Odyssey.” Led by Artistic Director Stéphane Denève, this extraordinary collaboration brought five newly commissioned ballets and musical works to life at the New World Center with dancers from Miami City Ballet, Houston Ballet, New York City Ballet, Saint Louis Ballet, along with Brian Letendre and Robert La Fosse.

Choreographic Concerto featured newly commissioned music by Sarah Kirkland Snider, Michael Abels, Kevin Puts, Carlos Simon, and Jennifer Higdon, with choreography by Claudia Schreier, Pam Tanowitz, Brian Brooks, Jamar Roberts, and Tiler Peck, lighting design by Luke Kritzeck, and costume design by Elena Spiridonakou. The second half of the program paid tribute to Jerome Robbins, whose work shaped both ballet and American musical theater. This performance was dedicated in loving memory of Joshua Robison.

Bajo la dirección del Artistic Director Stéphane Denève, esta extraordinaria colaboración dio vida a cinco nuevos ballets y obras musicales comisionadas en el New World Center, junto a bailarines del Miami City Ballet, Houston Ballet, New York City Ballet y Saint Louis Ballet, además de Brian Letendre y Robert La Fosse.

Choreographic Concerto presentó nueva música comisionada de Sarah Kirkland Snider, Michael Abels, Kevin Puts, Carlos Simon y Jennifer Higdon, con coreografía de Claudia Schreier, Pam Tanowitz, Brian Brooks, Jamar Roberts y Tiler Peck, diseño de iluminación de Luke Kritzeck y diseño de vestuario de Elena Spiridonakou. Some lessons are taught in rehearsal. Others are revealed in the way a mentor responds to life itself.

For Bharat Chandra, Clarinet Alum, one of his most powerful memories of Michael Tilson Thomas is a moment he wasn’t there to witness. During Bharat’s second year at New World Symphony, his father died suddenly. The following day, MTT gathered the Fellows, changed the rehearsal repertoire and led them through music that reflected on life, mortality and the people we love.

When Bharat later heard what had happened, he recognized something essential about MTT: the way he imbued music with the "immediacy, fragility and ecstasy of life," showing his musicians why they were there together and what they could be for one another and for those who listen.

Through Remembering MTT, New World Symphony alumni share the moments, lessons and memories that continue to shape their lives.

Para Bharat Chandra, exalumno de clarinete, uno de sus recuerdos más poderosos de Michael Tilson Thomas es, precisamente, un momento que no presenció. Top 16 of the 2025–26 season! 🎺 At number 2: “Denève, Thibaudet, Bernstein and Gershwin.” Stéphane Denève, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Conducting Fellow Ziwei Ma, and the New World Symphony Fellows brought the 2025–26 season to a brilliant close with a tribute to Co-Founders Michael Tilson Thomas and Lin Arison through the music of Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin.

As South Florida Classical Review wrote, “The evening proved a fitting tribute to Michael Tilson Thomas, a seminal artist whose legacy through the New World Fellows, past and present, will be felt for decades to come.”
