WE KNEW THE WORLD IN FRAGMENTS OF COLOR
——VICTORIA RUIZ
Now on view at Faena New York, We Knew the World in Fragments of Color by Victoria Ruiz explores how living between worlds can transform the way we see, remember, and belong. Drawing from Latin American symbolism, spirituality, and an intensely chromatic visual language, Ruiz creates a series of handcrafted full-body suits that become vessels for memory, identity, and collective experience. In ten photographs, figures emerge against saturated fields of color, each composition carrying its own language and presence. Together, the works trace successive moments in Venezuela’s recent history, transforming personal and political realities into a vivid meditation on memory, displacement, survival, and belonging.

ON THE BOOKSHELF
——KELLY BREEZ

Faena Art presents On the Bookshelf, a new series inviting artists to open the pages that have shaped their practices, imaginations, and ways of seeing. For its first chapter, Miami-based artist Kelly Breez shares the books, writers, and stories that have stayed with her—revealing another layer of the sharp humor and singular perspective that define her work. A longtime collaborator of Faena Art, Breez transformed the Faena Art Project Room with Dirt’s Dive, an irreverent yet tender portrait of South Florida’s disappearing dive-bar culture. Here, the conversation continues through the pages that have accompanied her, offering a glimpse into the references, obsessions, and ideas that inhabit her creative world.

WE KNEW THE WORLD IN FRAGMENTS OF COLOR
——VICTORIA RUIZ
Now on view at Faena New York, We Knew the World in Fragments of Color by Victoria Ruiz traces the shifting landscapes of memory, displacement, and belonging. Moving between geographies and states of being, Ruiz transforms color into a language of memory and desire—a way of holding onto what cannot remain still. Across the work, fragments of lived experience, places, and perceptions converge, revealing how migration reshapes not only where we belong, but how we see, remember, and imagine the world.

ECLIPSE
——EDUARDO SARABIA
Eduardo Sarabia uses narrative as his core material, developing a visual language shaped by both lived experience and imagined stories. His work explores cultural and social dynamics, blending autobiography with broader historical and mystical contexts.
As Eclipse (2024) is now part of the Faena Art Digital Program, on view at Faena New York, Sarabia responds to the Faena Questionnaire, offering a candid reflection on the values, inspirations, fears, and philosophies that inform both his life and artistic practice.

PORTRAITS OF US
—ES DEVLIN

Last year, we had the honor of hosting a drawing class workshop “Portraits of Us”, lead by Es Devlin. Participants met at the Library of Us and drew each face they met as the sculpture revolved, resulting in a collective portrait.

Faena Art congratulates Es Devlin on her exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, “A National Portrait For The National Portrait Gallery“.

For this new digital artwork, developed in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture Lab, Devlin invites every adult in the United Kingdom, ‘whether citizen or visitor’, to become a ‘co-author’ of an evolving portrait of the nation, where each face ‘calls for acknowledgment and presence’ in today’s discourse around national identity.

Much like Library of Us, Devlin’s latest exhibition creates a space for new encounters.
