Pay attention. Louisiana has a culture and a language regardless of your genealogy. And it’s not English. And the French doesn’t all come from Canada.

A good reminder why genealogy does not always match lived cultural experience.

Father born in Germany, mother in Louisiana, child's first language was French. [Father actually born in St James, St James Parish]

For some reason, this really trips people out in the US.
