Edition not to exceed 50 s/n. 48"w x 21"h (unstretched). $795

“Most people will look at Holding the Family Together and see it as a reminder of a happy family vacation and that’s great,” says artist Steve Hanks. “For me it is about the man in the painting more than anything else. It is about the man’s position in society these days and how the pendulum has swung the other way and put men in this position—trying to keep the family together while they’re all going in different directions. Dad is almost down on his knees trying to hold this family together and no one really sees him. There’s also something in this painting about the separation of the sexes during the 1960s, when I came of age, with the women’s movement. I think the ground was shifting for all of us.”

Whatever personal stories you may read into Holding the Family Together, it is also a moving landscape with its soft white foam, foggy shoreline and summer air. A MasterWork Canvas at 48” x 21” captures the drama of this Hank’s work at size. For those whose memories are stirred by the sophisticated beauty of this work by have slightly less space available for display, a 34” x 15” Fine Art Canvas is available as well.

Papa's Tea
by Morgan Weistling
limited to 75 s/n. 21"w x 18"h. $375

“I was inspired by the contrasts in this subject,” mused artist Morgan Weistling. “The older Grandpa’s large rough hands alongside his young granddaughter’s petite, gentle hands. With a small daughter myself right now, I know exactly how this gentleman feels. In the presence of this little young lady the biggest, most worldly man would be reduced to a dainty teetotaler (or shall I say ‘tea toddler’?). She is in charge and you will drink dirty water if she says so.” c/o greenwhich workshop

The Story of Raindrops:
“Her birthday was on the twenty-seventh of April.
The year she turned seven her parents gave her a most unique gift.
They presented her with a twenty seven dollar gift certificate to
Sanderson’s’ Green House. Along with the gift certificate for flowers
they gave her a set of gardening hand tools, a straw hat, a watering
can and a wooden window box that had belonged to her grandmother.
That afternoon they went to the nursery and she picked out her plants;
plants in various shades of her favorite color, violet.
Each year, after that, on the twenty seventh of April one of her presents
would be the gift certificate for flowers from Sanderson’s.”
