Hey everyone, this is Jono.
I regret to officially announce that the 214 is no more. While there is still a core team working to bring open mics to the community, things have changed with the venue and the team, so we are regrouping, reorganizing, and likely rebranding.
It has been an incredible run, and I wanted to share a few things about what made it so special.
1. Family
We got to be a family together on Thursday nights. I am incredibly proud of everyone involved in the open mics, from those who led to those who attended, because together we created a place where anyone could be a star on the stage with their family (us) cheering them on from the stands.
2. Witness
We were a Christian organization, but we did not restrict our open mics to Christian art. The reason was because of the ministry that happened every night we gathered. It became a space for believers to share their witness and testimony, to sing praises and laments, often in front of those who do not yet know Him.
If we serve a God who creates, then our creations should reflect Him.
Again, I am incredibly proud of everyone involved for having the boldness to share what God put on your heart.
I don’t view this outcome as a failure because I define success by the value our work did for the Kingdom, something I hope I communicated every chance I got, in every leadership meeting and at every event.
Below is our A-Player Agreement. Paige suggested that we write it to define who we wanted our team to consist of and the expectations we had for one another.
It never got signed.
