“On this Father’s Day, I express gratitude for fathers everywhere who set righteous examples. A father’s love, persistence, and dedication leave a lasting impression on all of us. May we continue to look to our Heavenly Father as the prime example for all we do.”
―Elder Ronald A. Rasband

I'm so incredibly grateful for my Father for the example He was to me! Although it's coming up on 20 years since He passed, Dad showed me how to be incredibly persistent in providing for loved ones. I don't have any memories of Him missing work because He didn't feel like it. Even when He was sick Dad found a way to make it to His job.

Growing up we didn't have all the things we wished for. However, we always had enough. Dad always made sure of that. I never went to bed hungry. I went to a private school because He valued a good education. Dad made countless sacrifices to make sure that His wife and children had everything we needed!

I will always remember Dad for being an amazing example to me! To this day I love going out of my way to show others how much I love them! Dad was a great example of Christ-like love to me!

Mesa Arizona Temple
By Jimmy Paderta

“In the temple we receive an endowment, which is, literally speaking, a gift. We need to understand the spiritual significance of it and the importance of keeping the sacred covenants and obligations we make in receiving this gift. Each ‘temple ordinance is not just a ritual to go through, it is an act of solemn promising.’”
―President Russell M. Nelson

On this day in 2014 I received my Endowments in the Mesa Temple. It was such a special and sacred experience for me. I had spent countless hours sitting on those benches visible in this image just on the other side of the fence. During those times I would ponder on life, my relationships with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and what they wanted me to do. On that day I was finally inside, and I had so many people there to support me on my special day!

In these past 12 years I've returned to the Mesa Temple hundreds of times. Over the years I've called this my happy place. Coming here never gets old!

The Mesa Temple has become home to me. As I have no family here in Arizona, God has filled those voids in a very special way. The people I've met here over the years have become family to me! I love seeing familiar faces each time I walk the grounds or go inside the temple. It's like I'm coming home!

Lubbock Texas Temple
By Jimmy Paderta

“To you who are worthy and able to attend the temple, I would admonish you to go often. The temple is a place where we can find peace. There we receive a renewed dedication to the gospel and a strengthened resolve to keep the commandments.”
―President Thomas S. Monson

I love the peace I feel from going to the temple! At first it was this wave of fresh air that recharged my soul. While I was there the worries of the world were absent from my mind. I quickly made attending the temple to be something I would do at least once a week (except for that brief period during 2020-2021). Even while traveling I keep my ceremonial clothing with and attend the temples along my journeys, just like I did at the Lubbock Texas Temple during my 2019 summer road trip!

By going to the temple so frequently, that peace I experience while being inside simply becomes a way of life! I can feel those blessings of God stay with me the rest of each week. The temple is such a huge blessing in my life!

“There is a certain kind of yearning for home we should never want to lose. Home should be an anchor, a port in a storm, a refuge, a happy place in which to dwell, a place where we are loved and where we can love. Home should be where life’s greatest lessons are taught and learned. Home and family can be the center of one’s earthly faith, where love and mutual responsibility are appropriately blended. Thinking of home with its pleasant and happy memories can make us stronger during our present and future days here upon the earth. . . .

“I’ve come to see that being homesick isn’t all bad. It’s natural to miss the people you are closest to. It’s normal to long to be where you feel secure, where those you love have your best interests at heart. It’s understandable to want to return to the place where you learned how to walk and talk, where you felt loved even when friends turned away, and where you were accepted, regardless of the situation. There’s no place on earth that can take the place of a home where love has been given and received.”
―Elder Marvin J. Ashton

Chicago is home for me. It is where I was born. It is where I was raised by my Mom and Dad. I have countless childhood memories of this wonderful city.

I really love what Elder Ashton says. “It’s understandable to want to return to the place where you learned how to walk and talk, where you felt loved even when friends turned away, and where you were accepted, regardless of the situation.” It's been a few years since I've been back to Chicago, but the memories of my childhood and loved ones live on in my heart!

Manti Utah Temple

I watch the program Music & The Spoken Word almost every Sunday Morning. This morning's message by Derrick Porter was so profound that I felt inspired to share it with you. I hope it's the message you need to hear today.

“We all carry strains of one kind or another, or even multiple ones. Some are burdened by sickness, loneliness, or despair. Others carry worry for loved ones at the crossroads of important decisions. And still others feel the heavy strains of anxiety or depression.

“Regardless of the strains that weary us, as we faithfully raise our burdens to God and seek His help, we can feel His power and find rest. As the psalmist said, ‘Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.’

“In the United States, Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember those who gave their lives in service for their country. In their sacrifice, we recognize another kind of sacred strain—one borne for the blessing of others—and we honor these courageous people with quiet gratitude.

“The strains we offer to heaven—whether sung out loud in praise or voiced silently from our hearts—are sacred to God. He knows us. He sustains us. And He loves us. In Him we find rest.”

Mesa Arizona Temple
By Jimmy Paderta

On this day 8 years ago the Mesa Temple closed for what was supposed to be a 2-year renovation project of the temple and grounds along with the rebuilding of its Visitors' Center. It ended up being closed for 3-1/2 years.

Because I knew I wouldn't be able to walk these sacred grounds for a very long time, I figured I'd capture some photos before the grounds would be completely redone. I'm so glad I did!

This afternoon while reminiscing on this day I went back and looked at these photos again. This beautiful image really resonated with me. I figured I would process it and share it with you!

By Jimmy Paderta

"In the temple we face the sunlight of truth. The light of the temple, that understanding, shines upon us as does the light of the sun. And the shadows of sin and ignorance and error, of disappointment and failure, fall behind us. Nowhere quite equals the temple."
―President Boyd K. Packer

I love this quote from President Packer. I have a testimony that in the temple we receive personal revelation from Heavenly Father. It is where we can draw closer to Him and His Son, Jesus Christ.

“Who can justly measure the righteous influence of a mother’s love? What enduring fruits result from the seeds of truth that a mother carefully plants and lovingly cultivates in the fertile soil of a child’s trusting mind and heart? As a mother, you have been given divine instincts to help you sense your child’s special talents and unique capacities.”
—Elder Richard G. Scott

I'm so grateful for my Mom who raised me for the first 16 years of my life. Since then God has placed so many bonus moms in my path, especially since my baptism nearly 13 years ago. Through my Mom and all these bonus moms I have felt so loved!

Ever since my Mom's passing I have always felt watched over and guided. She is my angel always there with me!

“I promise you that, with increased attendance in the temples of our God, you shall receive increased personal revelation to bless your life as you bless those who have died.”
―President Ezra Taft Benson

Since I began attending the temple over a decade ago I've been able to receive constant personal revelation. My testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is consistently being strengthened as I regularly attend the temple.

I love this beautiful and simple message from our Savior! It's a perfect reminder to keep our eyes focused on Him and to continue walking forward each step in complete faith!
