I absolutely love this quote by President Uchtdorf! Don't give up just because darkness might be surrounding you. That darkness will not last forever!

In the early morning hours in August of 2014 I captured this beautiful image of the Medford Temple. I woke up long before the sun came up to capture some images of this temple while I was still in town. Eventually the darkness began to slowly disappear. Little by little more and more light started to show in the sky. Then I was greeted with this stunning view of the Oregon morning sky just before sunrise!

The sun will once again rise in your life. Please have hope that God will make this happen for you!

Jordan River Utah Temple

As I was wrapping up touching up this older Jordan River Temple image this morning this verse kept coming to my mind. I've lived this, and I have experienced this. As I look for Jesus Christ in my life, I keep finding Him! Even in my darkest moments I have never been alone. The more I ask of Him, the more He gives me! Sometimes I doubt myself and feel that I am unworthy of His love. However, I reach out to Him anyway, and I find that He is always there for me!

The beautiful thing is seeing this happen in my friends lives. As they learn how to turn to the Savior, they are showered with blessings from above.

Turn to the Savior. He is waiting for you!

I have learned how to find joy by trying to remember how I viewed life as a child. As an adult when faced with problems that I don't have solutions for I oftentimes find myself becoming frustrated. In those times I try to remember to think like a child and make a game out of it. As I make progress in finding a solution but run into another roadblock, I try to make it exciting to search for the next solution. When I finally solve the problem, I like to celebrate with joy and excitement!

Sometimes we complicate life more than it needs to be. God wants us to experience joy. Continually turn to Him, and He will help you through your trials and help you find joy!

Throughout my life I have had numerous experiences that have made me happy. I have learned that happiness does not last forever. However, there is one thing that does ― joy!

Joy is a never-ending sense of happiness, and it comes from Jesus Christ! When we follow Him, things change for the better. We are able to endure the trials that come our way, and we are able to be happier as we await our promised blessings!

Yesterday I came across a video that referenced this verse, and it made me think of a conversation I had with a really good friend a few hours earlier. I shared this verse with him because I knew he needed to hear this reminder.

If you are experiencing afflictions in life, please remember that God will turn them into good things for you. I have experienced this so many times throughout my life. God has turned my weaknesses into my greatest strengths!

If you've had a far from perfect past, there is hope for you! Many years ago there was a video that went viral, long before the word viral was a thing. In The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, he famously said, “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”

Maybe you've been dealt a bad hand of cards. It's easy to think that God has abandoned you. I felt that way when my Mom passed away 33 years ago. I was still pretty young when that happened.

Two days ago I celebrated Her 92nd birthday. I used to dread the birthdays of my Mom and my Dad and the anniversaries of their passing, I would brace for the impending impact. Feelings of loneliness and abandonment would consume me. Then something changed.

I learned about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and embraced it in my life. Then something really big happened. I learned about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how it could heal me. I gave my pains to the Savior, and He replaced them with feelings of peace and joy! Now these four days each year have become days of celebration of my Mom and Dad! On Friday I attended the Mesa Temple, and then I took my missionaries out to dinner. My Mom's birthday was a special day! Because of Jesus Christ my story ended up having a happy ending!

I have particular concern for those who have lived righteously but think—because they haven’t achieved in the world or in the Church what others have achieved—that they have failed. Each of us desires to achieve a measure of greatness in this life. And why shouldn’t we? As someone once noted, there is within each of us a giant struggling with celestial homesickness.

I really love this quote! I had shared it on Facebook many years ago, and it came up in my memories the other day. I felt very impressed to share it on my post today.

The best way to achieve greatness is to first align ourselves with Heavenly Father. Ask Him what He wants of us and who He wants us to become. Then follow those promptings of the Holy Ghost to achieve that greatness!

I'm so incredibly grateful for my Father for the example He was to me! Although it's coming up on 20 years since He passed, Dad showed me how to be incredibly persistent in providing for loved ones. I don't have any memories of Him missing work because He didn't feel like it. Even when He was sick Dad found a way to make it to His job.

Growing up we didn't have all the things we wished for. However, we always had enough. Dad always made sure of that. I never went to bed hungry. I went to a private school because He valued a good education. Dad made countless sacrifices to make sure that His wife and children had everything we needed!

I will always remember Dad for being an amazing example to me! To this day I love going out of my way to show others how much I love them! Dad was a great example of Christ-like love to me!
