Hello RMDC Combo Families!
Welcome to RMDC and our 26/27 Season! We are so excited to dance and grow with you! We take pride in our combo program and RMDC and are thrilled to have expanded to three levels of combo!
The classes are 'combo' because we combine several styles of dance to keep your dancer focused and engaged in each style! This also helps your dancer become a more well-rounded dancer! The class will include:
Tap: Tap dancing is a fantastic way to learn rhythm and timing at this age! The sounds of the shoes help with this and as we grow into Level 2 Combo, we start to sound more cohesive! Your dancers will benefit from learning how to articulate their feet to make different sounds as well!
Ballet: Ballet dancing is all about posture and control! Dancers will balance and stretch during this portion of class. We learn the ballet terminology and basic ballet steps as well!
Acro: During Acro, this is our dancers opportunity to work more on flexibility and strength while learning basic limbering and tumbling skills. This is sometimes done in an obstacle course setting, allowing dancers to practice waiting their turn and following instructions a little more independently.
Creative Movement: Sometimes referred to as 'dance games', keeping class fun is vital to a successful Combo Dance class! Dancers this age learn best through play and this portion of class is perfect for that! Not only is it fun, but beneficial! We work on our listening skills with the directive music and our fine motor skills (the kind that helps your dancer pick up a crayon and write 'I love you' down the road) by dancing with scarves, rhythm sticks, bean bags and more!
Our Combo Level 1 class opens the journey to dancers ages 3-5. We utilize the Al Gilbert Tap Technique (Level 1), an introduction to basic ballet technique, and the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus (Primary LeveL).
Our Combo Level 2 class continues our dancers ages 5-7 through our curriculum to further build our foundational technique. We utilize the Al Gilbert Tap Technique (Level 2), Dorothy Vose Ballet Technique (Primary Level) and the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus (Levels Primary-Level 1)
Our Combo Level 3 class brings the imaginative fun into our older dance classes (ages 7-9) in a structured way! This class is 1 hour and 15 minutes long and further expands into the curriculum Level 1 & 2 Combo dancers have worked on including the Al Gilbert Tap Technique (Level 2 & 3), Dorothy Vose Ballet Technique (Level 1), and the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus (Level Primary-Level 2)
These dancers will also enjoy the continued benefits of the monthly Parent Showcases!
You will be invited into class this week during the Tap portion of class for a demonstration of what specifically your dancer has been working on! Your teacher will let you know when specifically in class you will get invited in!
