Attention Racers, Fans, and Anyone Else It May Concern,
As we head into the final weekend of racing at Merritt Speedway, we wanted to take a moment to address what has been quite the season here in 2026.
This year has brought its share of challenges, especially with the number of unfortunate rainouts we have experienced. After being rained out last weekend, we are now down to one final night of racing, and it is a big one — Gene Kregear Championship Weekend.
We have also rescheduled the Move Over Michigan Dirt Late Model Series to this weekend, which should make for an exciting night of racing. We currently have several tight points battles heading into the finale, with the Late Model points championship being one of the closest and most competitive.
We understand that there is certainly no shortage of options for racers this weekend. Mt. Pleasant has their Katie Hudson Memorial race this Friday, Tri City Motor Speedway has their championship weekend as well, Crystal has a two-day show, and, to our surprise, Winston is also hosting a special multiple-day event this weekend.
We want to take a moment to recognize Winston Speedway and the job they have done this year. Being their first year, we understand that getting a new track up and running comes with plenty of challenges, but it has been great to watch them succeed and establish themselves. They worked with us on the Wood Tic event and were very supportive, and we truly appreciate that.
Unfortunately, we did not learn about their event this weekend until only a couple of weeks ago, which did not give us enough time to work together or coordinate the schedules. That being said, we hope that heading into 2027, we have the opportunity to work with Winston to build a schedule that benefits the tracks, the racers, and the fans.
At the end of the day, we know racers have choices, and we respect that. Our hope is that our drivers will continue to support Merritt Speedway for one final weekend as we close out the 2026 season.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone one last time this year and ending the season the right way — with great racing, a great crowd, and a championship weekend to remember.
Thank you to every racer, fan, official, sponsor, employee, and supporter who has been a part of Merritt Speedway's 2026 season.
We look forward to seeing you all at Merritt Speedway for the final week of racing! With the tight points races and the Move Over Michigan Dirt Late Model Series, it is sure to be a great night!
