Japan part II • We spent a few nights in Kyoto. A very different vibe from Tokyo. Beautiful narrow streets with classic Japanese izakayas left and right. However compared to Kanazawa it felt very busy and almost too touristy. We spent the days exploring and finding restaurants to try. We did book one geisha experience. While informative and different, it was the one and only “tour” we booked on Klook. Do we regret it? No. I got to play the fune fune game with a real geiko. Would I do it again? No 🤭🙈. I think the highlight for me was touring castle grounds, climbing a mountain to see monkeys fight each other and starting everyday with 0 plans, just pure winging it LOL.

A little bit of Tokyo (it rained so much because of typhoon Dujuan, and honestly we have been so badly jet lagged that we slept half the day away out of pure exhaustion.) but then we headed to Kanazawa and finally saw the sun and my camera was back out 🙂. We’ve had the best time exploring small streets and navigating culture and language. Kanazawa is known for their samurai district, many temples and its beautiful castle. All of which I knew nothing of before arriving, admittedly. Michael is the travel planner. I knew wherever we went it would be great. Yesterday we arrived in Kyoto and it’s a VERY different vibe. But more on that on the next post 🤭.
