Meridian Little Theatre has been bringing laughter and live entertainment to East Mississippi and West Alabama for over 80 years. Founded in 1932 by a poetry reading group in Highland Park, MLT moved to many locations before finding a permanent home at the 52nd Street Playhouse. But, the show did go on, with performances held at the Temple Theatre until 1977 when construction was completed on the

present day playhouse. This modern theatre is housed in a million-dollar, specially designed facility, comfortably seating 400 with the latest in stage lighting and a Peavey sound system. A Board of Directors governs the theatre and employs an Executive/Artistic Director, Office Administrator, and several part-time staff. Meridian Little Theatre has grown to be Mississippi’s largest community theatre, welcoming over 22,000 theatre-goers each season. MLT has been twice voted “Best Live Theatre” by Mississippi Magazine. Our mission is to create and provide a diverse community theater that enriches, educates and entertains the people of east Mississippi and west Alabama.

Meridian Little Theatre has lost a very special member of our theatre family. ❤️

For more than 30 years, he faithfully bartended our First Nighters Patron Nights, becoming a familiar and beloved face to generations of our patrons.

He didn’t just serve drinks—he served people. He had an incredible memory and never forgot a face, a name, or what someone liked to drink. His warm smile, kindness, and genuine love for serving others made every First Nighter a little more special.

For over three decades, he was part of the fabric of Meridian Little Theatre and of the wonderful community that surrounds it. So many of our patrons have memories of seeing him behind that bar, ready with their favorite drink and a friendly smile.

His dedication, kindness, and friendship will never be forgotten.

We will miss him dearly, and we are so grateful for the countless years he gave to Meridian Little Theatre and to our community.

Rest peacefully, dear friend. You will forever be a part of our theatre family. ❤️🎭

While Hunchback may be over, we’re not done posting about it 🔔 Here’s a little appreciation post for our excellent choreographer, Carol Merrill of Carol Merrill Academy Of Dance, our costumer 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅, and Kansas City Costume Company who provided all of the costumes for our leads! Our actors wouldn’t have looked half as fabulous if these people hadn’t worked on our show, and we greatly appreciate them for it!

❤️🔔 A special thank you to everyone who came out to support our Front and Center production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame! To bookend the production and celebrate all of the hard work that the cast and crew put into it, here are some highlights from the last show, taken by our light designer while in the booth!

As always, we appreciate each and every member of our wonderful community who watched the show or worked on it in some capacity. Remember, Meridian Little Theatre is a community theatre, and no one could have put on this show like our community of talented young actors led by Rachel-Kate Thaggard and Abby Rich Miller . Every actor up there spent months learning their music, lines, and choreography, and we could not be more proud to support the next generation of artists with our teen division. May we do such as long as the bells of Notre Dame keep ringing. 🔔❤️

Opening night was a huge success!!! A big thank you to everyone who came out last night to support the opening of MLT’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, we couldn’t have asked for a better crowd! Though last night’s theme was formal, since we’ve had our first performance, we can finally start posting backstage pictures of some of the costumes!

There are only TWO more chances to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame before it leaves MLT’s stage, and that’s tonight at 7pm and tomorrow at 2pm! We hope to see you there!

Tonight’s opening night of the Hunchback of Notre Dame at MLT!!! To celebrate, here’s some of our actors’ costumes from yesterday! What was the theme, you may ask? Summerween! From tonight until Sunday, you can come to MLT and see this amazingly beautiful show! Tonight’s performance and Saturday’s start at 7pm, while Sunday’s begins at 2pm! Yesterday’s costume theme was “emo,” and here’s what the cast came up with!

Tickets are available on our website and at the door an hour before the show begins! The Hunchback of Notre Dame runs from Friday to Sunday, so don’t miss out!

We hope you will join us at auditions for Meridian Little Theatre’s production of Finding Neverland!

Auditions will be held on Thursday and Friday, August 6 & 7, 2026, at Meridian Little Theatre, beginning at 6:00 PM each evening.

There are four children's roles in this production (the Llewelyn Davies Boys). Those auditioning for one of these roles must be at least 8 years old by October 1, 2026. All other roles will be cast with teens and adults.

Please use the link below to tell us a little about yourself and sign up for an audition time slot. Please be patient as there will be multiple individuals signed up during each time slot.

Please prepare a one-minute (or shorter) selection from a Broadway musical in a similar style that best showcases your voice. A Bluetooth speaker will be available for accompaniment tracks, or you are welcome to bring your own speaker if you prefer.

Auditions will consist of three components: singing, reading cold sides from the script, and choreography. Audition sides will be provided at the door, and a short choreographed combination will be taught during auditions.

Callbacks (if needed) will be held following the final scheduled audition time slot on Friday, August 7.

Casting decisions will be announced via email. Please note that auditioning does not guarantee casting.

TWO DAYS UNTIL HUNCHBACK!

It’s Show Week for MLT’s the Hunchback of Notre Dame, which means it’s another post about our costume days! Tuesday’s theme was “Dress Like a Character From a Musical” day, and people came “fitted up,” as the kids these days say. While most of our actors were already in their Hunchback costumes (which we won’t post pictures of until the show officially starts 😏) before the camera came out, we managed to snag a few pics of some of our favorite ones. Can you guess who everyone is?
