The Meriden Black Heritage Festival is a time to celebrate the richness of Black culture and to bring awareness to the history and presence of the African Diaspora in the city of Meriden, CT and throughout Central Connecticut. The Meriden Black Heritage Festival consists of educational programs, a dynamic program featuring live entertainment, activities for children and families, food, arts and cr

afts, vendors, and more. The Festival provides the African American community an opportunity for family and friends to come together and celebrate the diversity of the African Diaspora. A FREE day-long event for the entire family will feature entertainment by local artists and fun-filled activities for the kids while spotlighting the products & services of African American businesses and organizations. Canceled - The Meriden Black Heritage Festival - Canceled
September 10, 2016

Due to a scheduling mishap the City of Meriden has canceled the Meriden Black Heritage Festival scheduled for September 10 2016 at City Park. We are deeply disappointed with the untimely action taken by the City of Meriden. However, the city council has expressed their support of the Black Heritage Festival and will be meeting with the Meriden Black Heritage Festival Committee to resolve this issue.

The Grand Opening of the Meriden Hub will take place on September 9 and 10th. 2016.

The members of the Black Heritage Committee are committed to being change agents within our community and pledge to continue to Educate, Empower & Entertain others with regards to the contributions of Black Americans.


We are working diligently to establish a new date for our Festival Event and will announce the details when they have been secured.
