Yesterday the music department welcomed Dr. Brett Jones (professor of percussion at UW-Superior) to Mercer School. While he was here he presented on his work as a percussionist and performed for students in grades 4-12 (including a surprise duet with Mr. Erickson). He also listened to the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, small ensembles, and soloists and provided some wonderful feedback and help. Thank you Dr. Jones for visiting and helping us to prepare for what will be a wonderful spring concert on May 22!

Before break two of our high school students attended the Gogebic Range Honor Band, where they rehearsed and performed pieces with students from five other area high schools. Below is a link to YouTube recordings of their performance. Congrats Bryelle and Aiden on a job well done!

Start your Fall break with a concert tonight at the Historic Ironwood Theater. High School students from six local schools (including Mercer students Bryelle Persons and Aiden Galloway) came together for the first time today for the Gogebic Range Honor Band Festival. Tonight at 7p they will perform. We hope to see you there. Admission is $5. Proceeds go to making sure this festival continues to bring together local students for music-making in future years!

Last week we had four students go to Shell Lake, WI to participate in the Shell Lake Arts Center MS Honor Band! All four represented Mercer well. They joined students from 28 schools around Wisconsin for a day of rehearsing before a final concert. Congratulations to Brooklynn, Emma, Ariella, and Keewin for their excellent work!

Sophomore Bryelle and Freshman Aiden were Mercer’s first students to ever attend UW-Superior’s Tri-State Honor Band Festival. There they joined students from 25 other high schools throughout Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota for a day of music-making. Nearly five hours of rehearsals culminated in a wonderful concert where Aiden and Bryelle’s band sounded great! https://www.mercer.k12.wi.us/students/honor-band.cfm

Wow! We officially have one week of school under our belt! It has been a whirlwind start to the school year, but we're starting to find our groove. Thank you to all community members who contributed to the school's fundraising campaign and continue to give as we work to provide the educational opportunities and community services our town relies on.

Hooray!!! Thanks to the generous donations of our community, we met our fundraising goal to provide materials and supplies to support teachers and students. We SOOOO appreciate all of the support from our community. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
