Youth Theatre Northwest YTN nurtures the intellectual, artistic, and personal development of youth through drama education, performing opportunities, and live theatre experiences.

Youth Theatre Northwest is a school, theatre, and home for children and families. At Youth Theatre Northwest, children and young adults explore the depths of their creativity and experience the thrill of live performance. Through the magic of theatre, YTN helps young people find their "inner light" of self-confidence, sensitivity, creativity, and leadership. Since 1984, YTN has been one of the reg

ion's premier educational arts organizations, providing a wide range of programming for tens of thousands of children and young adults ages 3 to 18 who come to YTN from throughout the Puget Sound region. Located on Mercer Island, YTN offers year-round classes and produces 12 professional shows per year for thousands of audience members. YTN's staff consists of professional educators and working artists, and our curriculums align with Washington State educational learning requirements and professional artistic standards. For many of our young students and audiences, YTN is their first exposure to the performing arts.

Please welcome our new Development Director, Don Rupp!

As Director of Development at Youth Theatre Northwest, Don Rupp brings a deep passion for the transformative power of the arts and a proven record of building meaningful community partnerships. Don is a graduate of Minnesota State University at Mankato, where he studied acting and directing. He travelled as an actor/ singer/ dancer/musician, bouncing around the country. In 1994 he landed in Seattle and settled in the Columbia City area.

Using his years of experience in nonprofit leadership and fundraising, Don champions creative opportunities that empower young people to find their voices through theatre. His collaborative approach bridges artistic vision with strategic growth, helping Youth Theatre Northwest continue its legacy of inspiring creativity, confidence, and connection among youth.

When he’s not advancing the theatre’s mission, Don spends many weekends on Orcas Island with his husband, exploring paradise and getting to know the locals.

Don’s been offstage for years but give him a good cause, and he’ll belt out a tune—and throw in a twirl—for your support!

Hark! Forsooth! Chaos Theory returns for one final show of the year. Inspired by your suggestions, these brave improvisers will create a brand-new Shakespearean adventure filled with dramatic twists, epic quests, questionable poetry, and plenty of laughs. We laughed, we skated, we fell on our butts, and we had an absolute blast.

Mission: PJ Masks

Ages 3-5

Join PJ Masks on a special mission: to fight crime under cover of night! At this play-based summer camp, students will be introduced to storytelling, character creation, acting basics, and the power of teamwork as they collaborate with all the other heroes they meet along the way! 

Students should be sent to YTN with a water bottle and snack that doesn’t need to be refrigerated or microwaved.

Tuition: $225

Blast off to the outer reaches of your imagination to create out-of-this-world drama! In a camp packed with a universe of possibilities, not even the sky is the limit. Movement and storytelling fundamentals will be our guide as we explore the final frontier, to infinity and beyond!
