MEET THE CAST OF MACBETH
Playing November 13-15 at the Merced Theatre

Zairah Quevedo (Lennox) is beyond excited to return to the Merced Theater’s stage for this production of Macbeth. Previously, she has portrayed Sebastian in Merced Shakespeare Fest’s free summer production of Twelfth Night, and Guildenstern in their production of Hamlet last year. She has also been on the Merced College stage numerous times, both onstage and behind the scenes as an actress and prop master in shows like Three Musketeers and In The Heights respectively. She hopes audiences will find themselves immersed in a tale that highlights the lengths someone will go to attain power and those who will stand in opposition to such tyranny. She’ll see you in November!

MEET THE CAST OF MACBETH
Playing November 13-15 at the Merced Theatre

Edgar Martinez (Young Siward/Second Murderer) originally from Los Angeles, came to Merced to study at the UC but stayed because of the community he found. During the day he works for local nonprofits, including Treehouse Tutoring where he serves as the Executive Director. In the past year Edgar has had the chance to work with most of the theatres in Merced. The roles he had the honor of playing include: Usnavi in In The Heights, Clark in We are the Tigers, Ernst in Cabaret, Greg P. and others in The Laramie Project, and most recently Kevin J. and others in Come from Away. This will be Edgar's first production with Merced Shakes and the first time he tackles Shakespeare, he could not be more excited. Edgar would like to thank all his friends, family, and coworkers for letting him play pretend as often as he does and dealing with his schedule.

MEET THE CAST OF MACBETH
Playing November 13-15 at the Merced Theatre

Scott DeMerritt (Banquo) is making his second appearance on the stage in Merced. He was last seen as Caliban in The Tempest this summer at Shakespeare in the park. With over 30 years of experience on the stage, his favorite roles include R.P McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest, Saleri in Amadeus, Talthybius in Trojan Women, and Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet. He's very excited to be a part of this amazing cast. He'd like to thank Henry and Heike as well as all those involved with Merced Shakes. He'd also like to send a special thanks to his Dad and entire family especially those who will always have the best seats in the house. He hopes you all enjoy the show.

MEET THE CAST OF MACBETH

Xandra Quevedo (Soldier) makes her theatre debut this fall, after years of watching local shows. Although she has no theatre education or experience, she is excited to learn and grateful to be a part of such a talented cast. She is looking forward to seeing everyone’s creative visions come together in this production, and is very thankful to her family for their help and support.

The exhibition is most interesting and, of course, Merced Shakespearefest is represented! What a beautiful day, lots of artsy people and a nice program with the background of our most beautiful building, the Merced Courthouse.

MEET THE CAST OF MACBETH
Playing November 13-15 at the Merced Theatre

Pamela Quevedo (Second Witch) is returning to Merced Shakespeare for the third time after performing the Player Queen in last year’s production of Hamlet and Maria the year before in Twelfth Night. After doing plenty of theater in high school and college, and then getting an AA in Drama in the nineties, she took a long break from theater as life got in the way. She returned six years ago to do Men on Boats at Playhouse Merced. Since then she’s done several other shows playing the Other Mother in Coraline:the Musical and Sophie in Sound of Waves Crashing on an Island of Broken Glass at Playhouse Merced, a nun in Sound of Music, and Milady in Three Musketeers at Merced College as well as Yelena in the Kraken Theater production of Uncle Vanya last year. She feels incredibly lucky to not only get to be in a production of Macbeth, but to also get to share the stage with both her children, Zairah and Xandra. She’s also thankful to be surrounded by all these amazingly talented people working together to create something meaningful.

MEET THE CAST OF MACBETH
Playing November 13-15 at the Merced Theater

Rich Barnes (Old Man/Siward) always dreamt of the day when he could play an old man on stage. Thanks to the modern age of CGI, the transformation is almost too real. This is Rich’s ninth play with Merced Shakes – previously playing pirates, friars, wooers and fighters. Oh! And a wall! He has also performed in a number of roles at Playhouse Merced (that number is greater than zero), and a few more with Perennial Players, bringing the overall total to 40+. When Rich isn’t on stage performing in plays or singing karaoke, he can be found at home in his jammies or working like grownups do at a full-time job at QK where he is a Senior CAD Designer, shareholder and Stormwater Compliance Professional; and holds degrees and licenses made up of letters like CPESC and QSD/QSP. Rich would also like you to know that he is married to the lovely and talented woman who has provided the props for this play and many, many others… Jenell Barnes!
