I wrote this last year and shared it and have decided I may have to every year..especially with two out the door tomorrow! 💙🩷

Twas the night before school starts
And all through the house
The only thing resting was maybe the spouse.

Backpacks were packed with supplies a great plenty.
Does anyone remember folders costing that kind of money?

The children were found nestled cozy in bed.
Clothes for the next day neatly out spread.

Mom lay there thinking of the many things to be done.
And all the years events to happen, her mind starts to run.

Boy we should’ve done more summer time reading.
Sorry to the teacher who started that book loving seeding.

The germs you know that will surely be shared.
And pray for the sicknesses we hopefully are spared.

Will they be kind and listen as they should?
You know they will promise to as we all hope that they would.

No matter the struggles or problems that arise,
they will surely earn the best sort of prize.

Another year of memories with friends they make and all the knowledge through life they will soak in and take.

So here’s to the teachers, aides, cooks, admin, drivers and all behind the scenes.
You all are where the many thanks and appreciation really should lean!

Excitement and nerves for my kids late late tonight.

Hey girl! With all your opinions and big ol personality to lend.
Now off for some fun and learning
at school to attend.

The world is big and loud, sometimes scary and bright!
But know we are so proud! You shine brighter and work hard with all your might.

Dad and I worry very little of all the things you can and will do.
More worried you give them all a break or two.
And don’t forget to mind your manners and P’s and Q’s.

Sometimes you and me may go rounds and yell and fight.
And a lot of times you get mad, maybe out of spite.
But we do the things we do to ensure you grow up right!

So go on, head out that door.
As I sit quietly on your bedroom floor,
Remembering what this is all for.

Look out world our girl is on the move!
And boy does she have so much to show and prove!

Love,
Mom

“A farmer (or rancher) prayer”

The sky’s are bright, wide and blue
Today, tomorrow, we pray for a rain to break through.

The corns startin to curl tight to the stalk.
Holdin on for all that its got.

Sun beating down hard, no sort of rest.
Struggling we are trying to pass this sort of test.

The cows bunch up fightin flies in a pasture corner.
Things are getting awfully dry and would gladly go for a weather warn-er.

We don’t ask for much, maybe more than just enough to get by.
But don’t go shutting it off either.
It’s an intricate dance, not gona lie.

Deadlines to meet and contracts to fill.
Don’t forget still need to pay the current due bills.

There isn’t much anyone can do.
It’s really all left up to You!
But It if you think of it remember to send a shot our way or two.

Praying for rain to ease some strife..

For all the momma’s today!! We’ve all had our days but always nice to know you arent alone in the trenches especially on our special day!!

My house, well it’s a mess.
My attitude and patience? Not at the best.

4 little bodies all wanting one thing.
“MOM!” The echos always seem to ring.

Some days strings are at their very bitter end.
And no slack seeming to lend.

Don’t get me wrong I love them to pieces but
On the hard days agreements would be welcomed for partime leases.

But then a moment sneaks in.
Quicker than a flash
Filling up mom’s love stash.

Someone says “boy the kids sure were good!”
Pride growing as it should.

Playing together. No fights or bad things
Thinking they’ll always have each other I find myself smiling.

A quick quiet hug at the end of the day,
Or a “I love you mom! Thanks for letting me play”

They really do catch some of the things I’m trying to teach.
Through all the nagging when I think they’re out of reach.

A day will come when the days will be painfully slow and just waiting for the phone call to ask “so…how’d it go?!”

But for now some days will be good
While others a reset button is a wish I could.

Really a thanks I should send their way
Because without the little stinks I wouldn’t have a Mother’s Day…💙 🩷💜💛
