Erika Roberts Studio

Erika Roberts Studio Modern art for old souls. Original works composed of acrylic, mixed media, found objects. I credit this childhood with planting and nurturing my love for art.

Ever since I was a child, I have loved the relationship between nature and art. I was born in Mississippi and grew up on a small piece of farmland in northern Tennessee. I spent much of my childhood tromping around the woods, splashing in the creek and drawing my daydreams. This passion blossomed in high school, where I took every single art class offered and I attended Tennessee Governor’s Schoo

l for the Arts. I started college (Lipscomb University) with big dreams of fashion and interior design, but along the way, I found myself graduating from University of Tennessee College of Law. After passing the bar, I moved to Memphis, where I practiced law for nearly ten years. Now, instead of tromping in the fields, I was hustling to and from the courthouse and fell in love with that vibrant city. Although practicing law was my main focus, the thirst to create never ceased. I painted pieces for my home and others, sewed aprons and dishtowels, designed a small collection of children’s clothing and peg dolls. A friend invited me to show my work at an art walk, and I took a small collection to show. At the end of the evening, I had sold every single piece, and I was hooked. This was my heart. Creating art. Where I needed to be. Fast forward to 2017 - I traded my briefcase for brushes and jumped into painting and small business ownership full-time. I have been sharing and selling my art ever since! I am humbled to create for a living and am so thankful for the support of my stockists and collectors for your continued support!

This project involved four little girls, one hidden beagle butt, two decades of friendship, and approximately 36 hours of painting.
I’ve known Anna since I met my husband. She was his childhood friend, and then our time at law school overlapped. Over time our lives became intertwined in the way the best friendships do. Careers changed. Kids arrived. Life got busier.
And for the last two years, she has been asking me to paint their bathroom.
Not a wall, but the entire bathroom.
About 25 horizontal feet feet of walls wrapped in wildflowers, butterflies, and meadow grasses.
I’ll admit, the hardest part wasn’t the painting - it was sending a quote to a friend. Fellow small business owners know exactly what I’m talking about. Thankfully, she didn’t hesitate for a second, and what followed was one of the most joyful commissions I’ve ever taken on.
After planning, packing, traveling, painting, and cleanup, I spent roughly 36 hours bringing this little English meadow to life.
It is part “It’s A Small World,” part “Secret Garden,” and part Monet inspired.
Each of our four daughters painted her own butterfly, who now lives on the walls forever.
And hidden among the grasses is a tiny tribute to the family’s beloved naughty beagle, Hunter: a mischievous little tail and b***y disappearing into the meadow. 🐾
Those details won’t mean much to anyone else.
But they’ll mean everything to this family.
Years from now, I hope they’ll walk into this room and remember not just the mural, but the season of life when four little girls painted butterflies together, friends gathered for a weekend, and a bathroom became part of the family’s story.
That’s my favorite kind of art. ✨ Art that comes from memories and is given from the heart.

Today I turn 45, and I find myself feeling overwhelmingly grateful.

For the people who stayed.
For the collectors who believed in my work before I fully believed in myself.
For the beauty that somehow continues to exist even in hard seasons.

These paintings tell the story of my life more truthfully than I ever could.
Some were painted in joy.
Some in exhaustion.
Some in grief.
Some while trying to hold onto hope with both hands.

And today, it felt fitting to hold a few of them the way fishermen hold their prized catch.
Equal parts pride, survival, and ‘would you look at that.’

Thank you for letting me build a life filled with color, memory, texture, and meaning.
45 feels tender.
Powerful.
Wiser.
A little surreal.
And very, very precious to me.

From Tennessee to Idaho… this one carries a whole story ✨
This precious collector first discovered my work years ago at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, and now, after finally settling into their home, we brought her piece to life ✨
Inspired by her childhood memories and our shared love of glowing sunsets and blooming dogwood trees, this painting feels extra special. Although we never met in person, we did get to speak on the phone, and let me tell you it is an absolute pleasure to paint for such wonderful people.
So honored to create something that will be part of their home for years to come! ✨

Introducing my new line: the ARTISANAL SCENTED PAINTBRUSH COLLECTION - lovingly developed for the discerning creative, who believes every brushstroke should smell like an artfully curated lifestyle. The collection includes…
✨ Café au Paint No. 3 — inspired by that moment when your brush dives gracefully (and accidentally) into your morning coffee.✨ Endless Deadline Dandelion Drizzle — a soft, lingering ode to life on the artist struggle bus.✨ Magnolia Multi‑Hyphenate Meltdown — for those luxurious days when the CEO, the accountant, the HR department, the social media manager, and the artist all happen to be… you.✨ Eau de Forgotten Rinse Cup — evocative of that swampy studio lagoon you swear you emptied yesterday.✨ Darla’s Gentle Breeze — a heart‑warming blend capturing the magic of discovering a single dog hair sealed lovingly into fresh varnish.

Hand‑foraged. Small‑batch. Aromatically unnecessary.

Happy April 1st, darlings!

Working on a piece that I have repainted twice now! Why is that? Sometimes I think the people that have been fans of my art for so long and have been so supportive and encouraging are the most precious, but stressful people to paint for. They don’t create the stress. I do. I just want to do a great job. I want it to be perfect for them and when it is a commission, and it’s going to hang in their home, there is just self imposed pressure that is hard to escape. Fingers crossed third times a charm! Anyone know what I’m talking about!?
