It was a great show with many timeless dresses and gowns.

👗 Vintage fashion, theater costumes and one unforgettable wedding gown made from a World War II parachute took the runway in Memphis.

The Memphis Community Players hosted the “Costumes and Vintage Fashions Fashion Show” May 2 at the Memphis Theatre, featuring 24 models and more than 50 costumes, vintage outfits, formals and creative designs.

The show opened with the Memphis VFW Color Guard and included music, lighting, choreography and historical notes about the Memphis Theatre and the Community Players.

🎭 Ella Kate’s story is coming home to Memphis!

Scotland County’s most famous daughter — Ella Kate Ewing, known around the world as the “Missouri Giant” — will be celebrated in a new folk musical, “Dream Big: The True Tall Tale.”

Ozarks Lyric Opera will bring the family-friendly production to the Memphis Theatre for a special hometown performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4.

The musical shares a powerful story of perseverance, courage and self-acceptance — right here in the community where Ella Kate’s story began.

Tickets are $5 general admission, with no charge for school-age children attending with a paid adult. Tickets may be reserved by calling 660-465-2277.

The importance of theater costumes is much more than just clothing on stage - they are an essential part of the storytelling process and create visual impact. Theater costumes are key elements in immersing audiences into the performance.
Costumes from several of the Players' productions, vintage fashions from the 1940s '50s '60s and more, The little black dress, formals, and unique designs were showcased in today's show.
