THIS FINNA BE LONG…Thank you everyone for the support on our Founders’ Day! I almost did not do it this year. After 7 years of these drops, I was uninspired — mostly worried about whether I’d top the last videos.
HOWEVER, my Sorors we’re NOT gonna let me get off that easy! 🤣 My Clu5 was giving me ideas for the next video this past summer and I kept shooting her down. In November, jumped in the chat like uhruhhh…we gotta feed the people!!! My twin (in spirit) suggested a Country/Western theme…the SAME idea gave that I shot down. 💀 I still wasn’t feeling it til she said Boulé is in Nashville…the Country capital!!! I thank y’all 3 so much for the motivation!
I always liked Keep On Steppin’ by , then put his gritty Memphis flavor on the track and I became obsessed! Everything aligned — the song title, the genre, and the Memphis vibes! Merging the trail ride energy with stepping was the perfect recipe.
The queen did an amazing job with shedding light on Black folks in Country music, but it’s another sub-category they always skip. Southern Soul music stretches from Texas to Mississippi up in to the Carolinas. That’s Black Folks’ Country Music! And we gon bring all that energy to Nashville this July!
I really would have felt terrible if I didn’t direct a video this year. So many of my Sorors look forward to sharing it to represent on our day! I love making y’all proud and I thank and for supporting me exploring my creativity! That’s what this Sisterhood is about — cultivating spaces to bring out the best in each other. Without Zeta, I don’t know if this side of me would have ever seen the light of day. So, I hope y’all had a good Founders’ Day. Just know imma keep creating, without the pressure.
