💉 EAR PIERCING — GUN VS NEEDLE 💉

There are two main methods used for ear piercing — the piercing gun and the piercing needle. While both can create a piercing, the procedure, healing process, and overall experience can be very different.

One of the biggest differences is how the piercing is created. A piercing gun forces a blunt piece of jewellery through the ear using pressure, which can crush and traumatise the surrounding tissue. A professional piercing needle is razor-sharp and creates a clean, precise channel through the tissue, causing significantly less trauma. This allows for more accurate placement and generally promotes a smoother healing process.

Pros:
• Quick procedure
• Usually cheaper
• Commonly used for basic lobe piercings
• Jewellery is inserted immediately

Cons:
• Uses blunt force to push jewellery through the ear
• Can cause more swelling, bruising and tissue trauma
• Harder to sterilise completely
• Greater risk of irritation and healing complications
• Longer healing times for some people

🔹 NEEDLE PIERCING 🔹

Pros:
• Sterile, single-use equipment
• Precise placement
• Less trauma to the tissue
• Smoother healing process
• Suitable for both lobes and cartilage piercings
• Wider range of jewellery options

Cons:
• Slightly longer procedure
• Can cost more than a gun piercing
• Some people may find a needle more intimidating
