AMUM hosts innovative temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and culture alongside selections from our permanent collections. UM graduate and undergraduate students exhibit work in the MFA Thesis and the Juried Student Exhibition. On Saturday, August. 29, the Art Museum of the University of Memphis (AMUM) opens a new exhibition reprising Paul R Williams, American Architect, the first major museum exhibition devoted to the achievements of the Black architect Paul R. Williams (1894-1980), which was launched by AMUM in 2010. We will have an opening reception for the show that same day from 3-5PM. Hope to see you all there.

AMUM is still seeking U of M students to work in the museum as student workers through federal work study or as Mellon Foundation interns. Students are eligible to apply if they have federal work study OR if they wish to apply for the Mellon and are majoring in a program from the College of Arts and Sciences or are majoring in Art History during the Fall 2026 semester. Applications are due July 15, 2026. For students applying with federal work study, please use the following link to apply:

AMUM seeks U of M students to work in the museum as student workers through federal work study or as Mellon Foundation interns. Come join the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology for our annual Family Day, Saturday May 2nd at the Art Museum of the University of Memphis from 11am-2pm!

We'll have activities for everyone, from kids to adults and folks in-between. Bring your family or take a fun break from finals.

Learn to write your name in hieroglyphs, make an Egyptian amulet, learn how to sort and record pottery like an archaeologist, and many more hands-on activities! There will be plenty of Egyptologists on hand-- ask us anything!
