Perseverate
/pərˈsevəˌrāt/

Join us for a debut exhibition of visual artwork from documentary filmmaker Joann Self Selvidge and musician Steve Selvidge, whose family life during the early days of the pandemic inspired them to shift their creative attentions to fiber art and film photography. The work reflected in this exhibit was created in the context of living with a child with disabilities. Their shift to solo work gave each of them new headspace to process the impact that their son’s neuro-spicy behavior has on the entire family. The word “perseverate” means “to repeat or prolong an action, thought, or utterance after the stimulus that prompted it has ceased.”

Exhibit runs from April 26 - May 10th.

We invite you to join us this Saturday, February 10th, for the opening night of a Transcending Narratives Art Show made possible by the Institute for Arts & Health Grant at the University of Memphis, celebrating the diverse and dynamic voices of 13 self-identified transgender (inclusive of gender expansive identities) and disabled artists. The week-long show aims to highlight the intersection of transgender and disability identities. We hope to see you there!
