This is a table I did 20ish years ago. I didn’t really know what I was doing as far as adhesives go so I carefully cut the stained glass and arranged it but used thin-set to stick it to the table top. You can make a beautiful mosaic but if it falls apart it’s not so beautiful!Well, over time some of the pieces started to come loose. My friend brought the table to me to be repaired. She laid it down in a van and all the pieces fell off! Luckily I found a faded picture of what the original looked like! I pain stakingly scraped off the thin-set from the back of each piece, cut a 1/4 thick piece of Wedi board to fit the table top, covered it in No-days adhesive and started piecing together the puzzle. It took one afternoon and most of the next day to get it all layed out. Some of the side pattern pieces were missing so I made the top and bottom borders go all the way across - which I think looks better than the original. If you see any other differences you are a genius! Ha! There was no way I was going to scrape each little original border tile. Luckily I had some black iridescent tiles that went well so I only had to scrape enough to do one strip across the bottom.
No-days adhesive is heated with a heat gun until it melts. When it cools, the tile is set and ready to grout. Right now I’m waiting for the glue attaching the board to the table to dry, then I will grout it with black epoxy grout. I’ll post pictures of the finished table soon!
