Resident at the Evergreen Theatre since 2011. Sharp, unapologetic, and entirely its own thing. Friends of George’s was founded in 2010 to produce a reunion for a historic Memphis drag bar known as “George’s”. With that experience, we discovered our passions for event planning and show business. community’s growing need for social opportunities, and activities outside of bars and nightclubs, so we
decided to continue providing new entertainment alternatives with a focus on quality stage productions in the tradition of George’s a.k.a. “The Showplace of the South”. To date, we have hosted and produced more than 23 shows, fundraisers, and special events such as “Male’s Diner”, “Heart Burn”, and of course our Evergreen productions: “DragTastic”, “Legends at the Evergreen”, “George’s Truck Stop & Drag Bar” (1&2) “The Drag Boat”, & "The Dragnificent Variety Show." In the process, we have donated proceeds for special causes and organizations that serve the L.G.B.T. community, including OutMemphis, Friends for Life, Planned Parenthood, Community Legal Center, the Anti-Domestic Violence Campaign, Holy Trinity Church, & the Tennessee Equality Project Foundation, just to name a few. Each of our shows is an original Friends of George’s creation. We have an accomplished board of directors that believes in professionalism, and a brilliant production team with extensive experience in entertainment and stage production as well as event planning, management, promotions, and fundraising. In addition, we attract a broad demographic, and our list of fans and supporters is still growing. We are constantly seeking new opportunities to expand our audience, and better serve the community that supports us. For information on Friends of George's productions, visit www.friendsofgeorges.org
