There’s SO much homegrown awesomeness happening here today! Get there early to check out the ‘Poets of The Word’ segment happening on the ArtsMemphis stage featuring poets- Kytanna McFarlin, Poetic Flo, & FW Love from 3:15-4pm! Also, the homies Chinese Connection Dub Embassy will be hitting the stage a little later at 7pm!

A Beale Street procession starting at 10:30 a.m. April 30 will honor the musician Omar Higgins, who would have turned 38 on April 26.

The memorial march for Higgins will be followed by an 11 a.m. visitation and reception at Clayborn Temple, with a funeral there at noon.

Omar Higgins, leader of reggae band Chinese Connection Dub Embassy and hardcore punk band Negro Terror, died April 18 at the age of 37.
