Flyway Comedy Club showcases the funniest touring and local underground comedians we can find to Memphis audiences the last Saturday of every month, and this month, we’re excited to have nationally-touring up-and-comer Jessie James Best (Wiseguys Comedy Club, Zanies Nashville) headlining our show, featuring Chattanooga-based Courtenay Cholovich (B4UDie Comedy Festival, Lookout Comedy Festival). With drop in sets from some of our favorite locals and hosted by co-producer Colton Ales, this will be a fun night to experience stand-up the it was meant to be enjoyed—live and inperson.

Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. Tickets are $10 online if you order in advance, but $15 if you purchase day of the event or at the door, so get them ahead of time! Also, if you’re worried about trying to plan around dinner, don’t! Flyway has a great kitchen and you can order food at the bar and have it brought to you in the show room. Come relax, have a drink, and laugh with us!

About Jessie:

Jessie James Best is a Stand up Comedian, Actor and Improvisationalist. I think he made up that last word. Currently based out of Nashville after stints in Las Vegas and Alaska, his storytelling and observational humor makes audiences want to come back for more. You may have caught him at the B4UDIE comedy festival or at Wiseguys Comedy Club in Las Vegas. Wherever you may have seen him, even just on the street, you’ll want to see him again.

Flyway Comedy Club showcases the funniest touring and local underground comedians we can find to Memphis audiences the last Saturday of every month, and this month, we’re super excited to have NYC-based, Memphis comedy scene alum Sammy Anzer (Funny or Die, Sirius XM, PBS) headline our February show. Originally from Queens, Sammy started stand-up here while working as a teacher, before moving on to do big things in the Denver scene, and now NYC. Hosted by Zach Williams and featuring a lineup of the usual strange creatures we’ve seen being funny in other bars around the city, this’ll be a fun night to experience stand-up the way it was meant to be—live and in-person.

About Sammy:

Rooster magazine says, “Anzer’s performances blend joy with contemplation, and his insightful societal commentary inspires reflection and lifts up the room.” Sammy uses his multi-racial background to examine America. He has performed alongside D.L. Hughley, Maria Bamford, Fahim Anwar, and Neal Brennan; written for Kevin Hart’s LOL Network; and caught ZIWE’s interest for an interview. Recently, he was named a Breakout Comedian of the Year in a competition hosted by Deon Cole, his debut album hit #1 on iTunes, he made his debut at The Apollo; and he’s appeared on PBS Roots of Comedy, Funny or Die, and SiriusXM. First off, congratulations for surviving this week without resorting to cannibalism. Secondly, we understand the roads are still rough out there for a lot of people. That said, if you can safely get to Flyway Brewing Memphis tomorrow night (Friday, January 30th), this show is still ON!

Slight change in plans, but the show goes on!

Jonathan Giles is a comedian and former late-night TV writer from Atlanta. He’s the co-host of the ‘Let’s Get Biblical’ podcast and was voted most likely to succeed in middle school. He’s an editor and travel writer for EBONY.com - which is not what you think it is. Or maybe it is. Either way, check it out. They could use the views.

EDIT: Deanna, our initial headliner, unfortunately had to drop. If you bought tickets expecting her as the headliner, and don’t want to come anymore, feel free to reach out if you want a refund. However, Jonathon’s hilarious and the rest of our lineup will be as well, so we do recommend yall still come out! It’ll be fun!
