Our visitor

I wanted to work with chalk pastels on a canvas board. So I researched how to prep the canvas. My husband was so excited that he saw an Indigo Bunting in our magnolia tree, we both took several pictures of the bird. I decided to do a pastel study of this bird.

My grandfather and Abner

Sometime in the late 1950's a home movie was made of my grandfather hauling logs with his horse. A frame from that was referred to while painting oil over a watercolor wash on heavy paper.

Buzzy Bee

Bees have always fascinated me. The way they communicate with each other, thrive together in community, and work hard. They are small and most of the time go unnoticed. Yet without them, we would all perish. This little guy was photographed by Pete Wetton, who permitted me to paint his photo.

Fallen Tree

While watching Sunday Morning last week at the end of the show they showed some beautiful scenery. I took a photo of the TV screen... this tree that was still growing even after it had fallen sideways intrigued me.
It called me to paint it!
