These are ollas (OY-yuhhs). They get buried up to their eyes in the dirt and filled with water. Over time, the water is supposed to leach out of them into the soil and keep the surrounding plants watered. Do they work? Dunno.

My nephew has been on me to make a chess set so here it is - I’m mostly happy with it, but there are a few pieces I want to remake. For now it’ll work tho. Wanna see me get schooled in chess by an eleven year old?Come visit me at the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands this weekend in Asheville!

EDIT: okay white squirrels live in other places than Brevard NC… but I’m sure Brevard’s white squirrels are the cutest in the world!!

Did you know that you can find white squirrels in Brevard, NC? It’s the only place on the world where they exist! That was news to me, SOOOO… I’m bringing some special tidbits to the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands in Asheville next weekend, along with my customary tidbits. Hope to see you there!
