Big Shout out to Monee Phillips and her amazing SPV production crew at The Monee Phillips TV for an incredible recording last night. She is grace, style, and class personified and I absolutely loved being on her show. Our conversation ran the gamut of lighthearted remembrances to very serious topics of how we must come together as a community to rebuild the self esteem of our neighbors and our young people, two topics very near and dear to my heart. She also gave me an opportunity to promote our new book Our Neighbors, Our Stories in search of common ground, a literary series, celebrating the humanity of 100 memphis families doing their part in making Memphis better and stronger for all. Incredibly grateful to meet neighbors like Dakota Brown, a 43 year resident of North Memphis, who recognizes the potential of her community and works diligently to bring opportunities to her area of town. This week she gave me a tour of the Hollywood and Chelsea area and pointed out the small jewels that remain there that with the right love, attention and investment will be a booming place for commerce, urban renewal and civic pride in North memphis again. I believe in the old adage “You will find whatever it is you are looking for...” Brown is looking for a team of caring and concerned investors to revive these and other North Memphis business districts. She is looking for believers and doers to restore the prominence of her community! thank you Dakota Brown. We are so proud to be your neighbor!
