Helen Wheatley - Artist I am an artist currently working in mixed media. I am an artist. Whether it's 2-D or 3-D, realistic or abstract, I've probably tried it.

I also enjoy watercolor, acrylic, photography, mixed media collage, sculpture and Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) I belong to various non-profit art organizations, take lots of classes and workshops, teach a little, and love creating. I love learning new things and then using that knowledge to take my art in new directions. I am part owner of Art Gallery of Viera and have my work there. I also participate in several local art shows each year.

Last day, today. From 11 am - 4 pm. I won't be there today as I have to come this evening to pack it all up. I've enjoyed showing this collection so much. I've shared so many stories about the process and the individual pieces themselves. They have a lot of personal meaning to me. I've especially enjoyed the reactions I've received from so many people. This show has been so successful for me, and I think I've been shown a path now. Thank you to everyone that came out to see it and especially to my clients that have shown me love through their purchases. I am so grateful for each and every one.

This is the last week to see my solo show, "Imagine All The People" at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. I will be working at the gallery on Wednesday, Oct 23rd and Thursday, at the Oct 24th from 10 am - 5 pm. The show closes on Sunday, Oct 27th and we are open 11-4 that day. I've enjoyed talking with gallery visitors about my artwork and how much this show has meant to me. I really worked my butt off and even though there were a few pieces that I had started that didn't get finished in time, I'm proud of what I accomplished and feel very fortunate to have been able to display it in such a beautiful gallery. Please don't miss it if you are interested. And if you don't mind, please share this post for me.

Thank you, a really big, THANK YOU to all the people who came to the opening of my show. I know some of you couldn't make it due to illness and other issues. If you want to visit the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery while I'm there, I'm working today, (Saturday) Fridays 11th and 18th and Thursday 24th from 10-5. I've worked so hard to create what I think are exceptional pieces for my solo show. I've learned so much. Lots of things worked, and lots of things didn't work. But I'm proud of what I've accomplished. Tomorrow, it goes to the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. "Imagine All The People" will be on exhibit from Oct 1 - Oct 27. Opening reception is Friday, Oct 4th from 5:30 - 8:30. If you can't make the opening, I'll be working at the gallery on Oct 5th, 11th, 18th, & 24th from 10 am - 5 pm.

Back from a quick trip up to N.C. to celebrate my cousin's 80th birthday. Gotta get back to work if I'm going to have everything ready to hang tomorrow at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery! Hard to focus after learning about the devastation in areas of N. C.

"Teach Them Well" is a favorite of mine. It will be included in my solo show. This was the first of a series of sculptures about the importance of a good male role model in a young boy's life. The sculptures depict simple interactions between the two that don't cost anything but a little time. I'm working hard to complete the final piece of the series now.
