“If We Build It, Home Will Follow”

This painting grew out of conversations at work about what it would take to end homelessness in Southern Oregon. Although, the work can feel as impossible as ending cancer or poverty, imagining new communities is the beginning of more real housing options.
It challenged me, trying to present this imaginary landscape, but Ive learned so much and accomplished an atmospheric, hopeful, and grounded painting about what I care about. It’s headed to my office as a reminder to stay inspired and motivated while I do my bureaucratic best.
