ACCSD Company dancers Alyssa Norton and Kami Davis spent part of their summer at the Shenandoah University Dance Department’s Annual Summer Dance Intensive ✨𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐚𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞
After auditioning and being accepted earlier this year, both traveled to Northern VA for a week of training, growth, and connection; exploring new styles, learning from Shenandoah faculty, and building community with dancers from all over.
Kami shared, “My favorite part was the environment. Everyone was super nice (students and staff), and you could tell everyone was excited to be there. We uplifted each other and learned from each other. I also loved having the opportunity to explore new styles of dance.”
Alyssa added, “My favorite part was the positive and supportive environment from both the dancers and staff. I really pushed myself out of my comfort zone, especially with styles like Afro-contemporary and commercial heels. Throughout the week, I felt myself learning more about my body and picking up choreography faster. I also gained a sense of independence and responsibility for my own dance journey.”
