The entire CV musical family wishes to acknowledge the passing of the original Mrs. Potts, Angela Lansbury. Star of the stage and screen, Lansbury was known for originating stage roles in “Anyone Can Whistle” (1964), “Mame” (1966), and “Sweeney Todd” (1979). From 1984 to 1996, Lansbury played mystery writer turned sleuth Jessica Fletcher in the CBS crime series, “Murder, She Wrote”.
In 1991, she voiced the warm and tender Mrs. Potts in Disney’s animated feature, “Beauty and the Beast”, singing the film’s title song that would later receive the 1992 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
“Off to the cupboard now… Goodnight, love.” 💕
