The other day I while I was driving, I said out loud “it’s too much pressure to be perfect” and from the back seat came a resounding YEAH! from both of my kids. We were talking about how some things you have to learn by doing and there are a lot of falls and mistakes involved, while both your mind and your body figure it out.

In Human Design, I am a 1/3 profile - Investigator/Martyr. My son is a 1/3 also, and my daughter a 3/6 (martyr/role model). So this Line 3 is incredibly important in my household. It is all about learning through trial and error. Allowing space for experimentation. Reflecting on what worked and what didn’t. Not telling them to just take my word for it, but honoring their lived experience as the greatest teacher, helping them to find the wisdom in the wound. Parenting in this way pushes me to always be monitoring the current situation, weighing risks, and biting my tongue a lot. Sharing more facts, less opinions. Or sharing from my own experience while leaving space for theirs to be different. I’ve learned the power of asking open-ended questions that lead to new insights. And you’ll never hear me say any version of “I told you so.”

EFT tapping is a tool for soothing a chaotic nervous system and moving through challenging situations. Using it around therapy horses was the cherry on top of a fabulous learning event hosted by Alicia of Healing Pathways of NWPA I’m already finding it effective and easy to incorporate into daily adventures, and blends seamlessly into my Reiki practice.

7 years ago, I fell into a trap. Being in the middle of absolute crisis at the time, I didn’t realize it. I ended up in the deep dark caverns of fear and doubt, doing my best just to survive what awaited me at each next turn, having completely forgotten what the sun in a clear blue sky felt like let alone striving to find it.
The trap was believing this:
I have an incurable disease.
I resigned myself to always being sick and working to just be ok. Only recently have I been able to rework my perspective on living with Multiple Sclerosis, allowing myself to believe in my body’s ability to heal itself, given the proper time and conditions. Modern Western Medicine doesn’t currently offer a cure, or even a thorough understanding of the root cause of MS. That doesn’t mean I can’t be well. It just means there is more to explore - within myself and the larger world. I’m a perpetual student, trying out new tools and traditions. Some of them have worked for me. Some of them not. Some of them didn’t work the first 100 times I tried, but eventually clicked. And now that I’m believing in my self and my body, experiencing the benefits of alternative healing practices - I know it’s time to share what I’ve been learning.
My page, Ethereal Energetics, is a peek inside this self-healers tool chest. A glorious mess of a million things that don’t seem to go together but all share one commonality - each has the potential to be the spark that lights a candle in the darkness.
