The City of Meadville Fire Department has been notified of a planned power outage scheduled to take place on September 16, 2023. Some Penelec customers within the City of Meadville may be affected by this outage.
A message to Penelec customers stated:
“On Saturday 9-16-23, there will be a planned power outage to upgrade our facilities for enhanced circuit reliability for our customers. The outage will affect customers in the vicinity of Park Ave, Linden St, Market St, Elm St, Chula Ct, Autumn Dr, Poplar St, Willow St, Water St, Marion Alley, Arch St, McHenry St, Arterial Hwy (French Creek Pkwy.), S. Cottage St, and Hemlock St.”
The service interruption is scheduled to occur between 7:30 and 8:30am. Although the outage is only scheduled to last 1 hour, the Meadville Fire Department encourages all residents living within the listed areas that may be on home oxygen concentrators or other electrically powered medical equipment to charge your devices and batteries prior to the outage. If you are on home oxygen, it is recommended to make sure any portable tanks are filled prior to the outage so that there is no interruption or potentially harmful effect on your health.
The outage serves as an opportunity for all citizens to review their disaster preparedness plans and take the appropriate steps needed in the event of a power outage resulting from a natural disaster.
