Happy 250th, America.

Two and a half centuries ago, a bold experiment began in Pennsylvania. Today, we raise a glass to the spirit that started it all.

This land gave the world rye whiskey. Before bourbon had a name, Pennsylvania rye was the pour of choice from Philadelphia taverns to the halls of the new republic. It fueled revolutions, toasts, and traditions that shaped a nation.

July 4th holds its own place in our story, too. It was Independence Day 2021 when the first barrel of Meadville Rye was bottled for sale, reviving a recipe that hadn't been distilled since 1917. A century of silence, broken on the day that celebrates new beginnings.

America turns 250 this year. Meadville Rye carries over 130 years of Pennsylvania whiskey heritage in every pour. Both built on conviction. Both rooted in something worth preserving.

Tonight, wherever you gather, pour one slow. Taste the grain, the oak, the time. And remember that the best traditions aren't just remembered. They're kept alive.

Thank you to Senator Michele Brooks for her support in co-sponsoring this bill. It's a bigger deal than people realize. Meadville Rye Whiskey would be one of only two distillers in the region that would be able say it qualifies as a true PA Rye, but the potential for Pennsylvania here is huge for distillers, growers, and tourism. Hopefully the PA House or Reps will understand this and do their part to make this official.

With a recent legislative push, Pennsylvania could become the third state to have an official spirit. Senate Bill 1248, would designate rye whiskey as the state’s official spirit if it passes muster. It was advanced through the State Government Committee to the full Senate. The legislation was...

Come down to Diamond Park for Meadville Council on the Arts's Summer Concert Series for a FREE performance by Tyler Smilo & Dom DeCecco. Food truck on site.

🇺🇸 Friday, July 3
Pull up a chair for the 4th of July Parade! The parade will begin at the intersection of the Diamond and Chestnut and runs around the Diamond, down Chestnut Street to Market Street, and turns right on Market to end on North Street. Come downtown early to check out all of the patriotic businesses participating in the America250 decorating contest—winners will be announced at the parade! Parade begins at 7pm.

🎆 Saturday, July 4
Start your morning off with a coffee and good vibes while you peruse the Saturday Farmers' Market at the Meadville Market House. Head over to Robertson Athletic Complex at Allegheny College for "An Olde Fashioned Fourth" for live music, family-friendly activities, local food and beverage vendors, storytelling, carnival rides, and a 250th-birthday-worthy fireworks display! The first 750 (yes, you read that right) attendees who'd like to enjoy carnival rides will receive a FREE (yes, you also read that right) unlimited ride wristband! Come join us for a celebration to remember!

Well. We tried our best to pretty up the outside for the Old Fashioned July 4th parade this week. The Trust Building has witnessed 115 Fourth of Julys. Somewhere along that span I'm guessing it got decorated a few times. 🇺🇸🎇.

Well. Tonight was exactly what we hoped for alumni - a fun space for them to catch up on old times and meet new people. We weren't too sure how things would turn out, but word-of-mouth made for a packed Vault! Thank you everyone for coming!
