Well… things have looked a little different around here this week!
Last Tuesday I had reconstructive ankle surgery after learning that I had a tendon that had actually been torn completely in two and the other other was sliced in the middle and they have been this way for quite some time. Long enough the torn tendon was as hard as bone. Because of the damage, it took my surgeon 3 hours to reconstruct part of my ankle and tendons and reinforce the ankle with a special “seatbelt-like” internal brace to help stabilize everything.
The good news? I’m hopeful this surgery will improve my balance, reduce the pain I’ve been dealing with for months, and get me back on my feet stronger than before! ❤️
For now, though, I’m on strictly NO weight-bearing for at least the next two weeks, followed by several weeks of recovery. If everything goes well, I’m hoping to be walking comfortably again in time for our beach trip in about eight weeks! 🤞🏖️ The hubs has been a very good nurse and is taking good care of me.
Being wrapped up in this splint means I can’t get out to my shop to paint or work on orders unless my amazing daughter, Lorelai, is there to help me. (She’s been a lifesaver!)
That doesn’t mean Signspirations has stopped…
If you know me, you know sitting still isn’t exactly my specialty! 😄 While I’m recovering, I’ve been spending my time designing, sketching, and planning some really exciting new projects. Stay tuned for updates!
