As we gear up for our 2026–2027 season, we want to remind our patrons to know before you buy. 🎟️

Unauthorized third-party ticket sellers are an ongoing issue that affects venues, artists, and patrons alike. These websites can look very convincing—sometimes copying our website information and seating map—but may sell tickets at significantly inflated prices, sell invalid tickets, or fail to deliver tickets that have already been paid for.

Unfortunately, many of these resale practices are currently legal, which limits what we can do when a purchase is made through an unauthorized seller. The Opera House cannot refund, replace, or resolve issues with tickets purchased through these sites.

We’re frustrated that these practices continue, and we’re actively advocating for changes that provide greater protection for ticket buyers.

The best way to protect yourself is to purchase Opera House tickets only through mcphersonoperahouse.org or directly from our Box Office.

If you’re ever unsure before purchasing, call us at 620-241-1952. We’re always happy to help with ticket purchases and answer any questions.

A lot can happen in 40 years.

For the McPherson High School Class of 1986, their graduating year marked an important milestone. As it turns out, 1986 was a milestone year for the Opera House, too.

A few weeks ago, the Class of ’86 celebrated their 40th reunion here at the Opera House and gathered on stage for a class photo.

In 1986, the McPherson Opera House Preservation Company was formed to save the building from demolition and restore it to community use. Just a year earlier, MHS students were already speaking up about what was at stake. A 1985 editorial in The High Life called the possible demolition of the Opera House a “tragic loss,” warning that McPherson would lose “much, much more than just a building.”

At the time, there was no guarantee this stage, or the Opera House itself, would still be here.

All these years later, the Class of ’86 stood together on that very stage, celebrating another milestone.

It’s a pretty special full-circle moment and a reminder of what preservation makes possible. ❤️

Next up in the Classic Film Series is American Flyers! 🚴‍♂️

See some familiar local spots on the big screen! Parts of American Flyers, starring Kevin Costner, were filmed in McPherson and Lindsborg, including a scene at the McPherson McDonald’s and a downtown parade scene in Lindsborg.

The film follows two estranged brothers who reconnect through their shared love of cycling and take on a grueling race through the Rockies.

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing people behind Apartment 6 Resale and Consignment Shop! ❤️

This week, Apt. 6 presented the McPherson Opera House with a donation of $76,433, approximately $11,800 more than last year!

Apt. 6 has been supporting the Opera House since the 1980s, and this incredible partnership continues thanks to the dedication of manager Jan Cornett and the wonderful Apt. 6 volunteers who give their time and energy throughout the year.

We also want to thank everyone who shops at Apt. 6 and donates items to the store. Your generosity makes this support possible and helps ensure the Opera House continues to be a special part of our community.
