Update: Jason and I are both healing. I’m able to drive. I just have very little strength. I still have really large hematomas that hurt and feel weird. And my brain still seems muddled, I think that may be a ptsd thing. They DID do a CT scan, and said it didn’t look like I had any brain injuries. Jason is struggling to walk. His incisions from the surgery to put the rod in his leg, and the big gouge out of his other leg, have all contracted MRSA. So we’re struggling to get him to wound care for regular dressing changes, plus seeing the doctor for weekly debriding, which is VERY painful. We both start physical therapy later this week. Note to self, never have an accident and require physical therapy around the holidays. It WON’T HAPPEN. 😂

We have both been off work for six weeks, with no paychecks. So we’re so thankful to our friends who are contributing to our GoFundMe, and sharing it so more people see it.

I’m going to try to post an update about our recovery occasionally, with a link to our gofundme. If anyone would like to donate, but is uncomfortable with using gofundme, I can also share my cashapp, Venmo, or PayPal info.

Current update: Jason came home today! It was a little scary getting him into the house, and he’s exhausted. But hopefully Jennah can handle helping both of us. Thankfully, I’m needing less help every day. I can now brush my teeth, wipe my own butt, and feed myself if someone brings me food. I can’t pull my pants up and down, I’m really weak, can’t close my hands all the way, and I’m exhausted! But small improvements every day keep my spirits up. 💜 Hopefully it will be the same for Jason

The donations are truly helping us get by, and we appreciate it so much!

Update! Yesterday I got both my casts off, from my right and left arms. Wow, I can scratch my own nose! The right arm, with the steel plate that it’s screwed to my humerus to hold it together, the surgeon said I could move it as much as I want, or could tolerate. But sadly, over two weeks immobilized in a cast has seriously damaged the muscles. Plus, the muscles moving against the steel plate and screws can be extremely painful. My hand is very weak, and I can’t make a fist at all. The left arm, with the dislocated and broken elbow, now has a complicated brace that controls what angle I’m allowed to move my elbow to. The hand and arm on that side is also very weak, and I’m unable to even make a fist. The surgeon jokingly said I could go back to work, if I could tolerate it. I can’t even turn a doorknob to open a door! But if someone prepares my food, I can someda somewhat feed myself. 🤷‍♀️😂 My left b**b, which the seatbelt was over, is about three times its normal size, rock hard, and really hurts. Apparently it could take a year or longer to go back to some semblance of normal. 😩 In short, things are definitely slowly improving. But I’m also in pain for a large part, or all, of every day.

Jason is also improving every day. I think the flu he caught is mostly over. He’s up and walking on his leg every day. A little further every day. That is his right femur, which I believe was broken into five pieces. They repaired it by inserting a titanium rod down through the middle, and screwing the bone parts to the rod. His broken elbow has been in a cast this whole time, and they finally removed it today. There is talk that they may send him home soon, instead of going to a rehab facility, because insurance dicked around too much, and I think he’s missed that opportunity, which is a shame. I’m a little nervous about him coming home. We don’t have a ramp, and both entrances to the house have a step or two. I believe someone (Maybe his dad and brothers) might be building a ramp in the next day or two. Hopefully that goes well. And I can’t WAIT to have him home I just know, with me myself still needing care to go to the bathroom, eat, and dress, I can’t help HIM with what he needs.

Anyway, I’m just sharing our gofundme, to help cover these additional expenses caused by this accident. Please share!

This is my favorite photo, taken by my lovely sister, of my husband and I in the hospital after our horrible accident. Being able to be next to and Touch my husband, even with with just barely our hands being able to touch was so important to me. We have a long road of recovery ahead of us. I'm asking that people please share my goFundMe, and donate if you can. I'm posting all of this hands-free, because I don't have the use of my hands and arms anymore, they are both in almost full casts but I'll still see if I can figure out how to post a link to my GoFundMe. It might end up being in the first comment, or I'll try to add it to my bio.
