Update! Yesterday I got both my casts off, from my right and left arms. Wow, I can scratch my own nose! The right arm, with the steel plate that it’s screwed to my humerus to hold it together, the surgeon said I could move it as much as I want, or could tolerate. But sadly, over two weeks immobilized in a cast has seriously damaged the muscles. Plus, the muscles moving against the steel plate and screws can be extremely painful. My hand is very weak, and I can’t make a fist at all. The left arm, with the dislocated and broken elbow, now has a complicated brace that controls what angle I’m allowed to move my elbow to. The hand and arm on that side is also very weak, and I’m unable to even make a fist. The surgeon jokingly said I could go back to work, if I could tolerate it. I can’t even turn a doorknob to open a door! But if someone prepares my food, I can someda somewhat feed myself. 🤷♀️😂 My left b**b, which the seatbelt was over, is about three times its normal size, rock hard, and really hurts. Apparently it could take a year or longer to go back to some semblance of normal. 😩 In short, things are definitely slowly improving. But I’m also in pain for a large part, or all, of every day.
Jason is also improving every day. I think the flu he caught is mostly over. He’s up and walking on his leg every day. A little further every day. That is his right femur, which I believe was broken into five pieces. They repaired it by inserting a titanium rod down through the middle, and screwing the bone parts to the rod. His broken elbow has been in a cast this whole time, and they finally removed it today. There is talk that they may send him home soon, instead of going to a rehab facility, because insurance dicked around too much, and I think he’s missed that opportunity, which is a shame. I’m a little nervous about him coming home. We don’t have a ramp, and both entrances to the house have a step or two. I believe someone (Maybe his dad and brothers) might be building a ramp in the next day or two. Hopefully that goes well. And I can’t WAIT to have him home I just know, with me myself still needing care to go to the bathroom, eat, and dress, I can’t help HIM with what he needs.
Anyway, I’m just sharing our gofundme, to help cover these additional expenses caused by this accident. Please share!
