IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
After considering racer feedback and observing areas where we can improve the racing experience, the following rule updates are being implemented effective immediately.
- Driver's Class Battery Rule -
To keep the Driver's Class affordable, competitive, and beginner-friendly, only the following AAA batteries will be allowed:
• Kyosho Speed House 800mAh
• Gens Ace 750mAh
• Reedy 800mAh
• EcoPower 1000mAh
The goal of the Driver's Class has always been to create a level playing field where driver skill matters more than budget. We want new racers to feel competitive from day one without needing expensive or hard-to-find equipment.
While the Driver's Class is the most ideal class for new racers, drivers of ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. We know there are racers who feel strongly that experienced drivers should stay out of beginner-focused classes. We understand that perspective, but we also believe the most important thing is that this class exists and continues to grow.
One of the best ways for newer racers to improve is by racing alongside experienced drivers, learning race craft, consistency, and sportsmanship firsthand. A healthy, full Driver's Class benefits everyone.
To encourage participation from seasoned racers and help keep the class strong, the TOP 3 FINISHERS WILL RECEIVE A FREE ADDITIONAL ENTRY AT THEIR NEXT CLUB RACE EVENT!
- Open Mod Class Update -
The Open Mod class will now be divided into two skill-based divisions:
Sportsman
Designed for drivers who are new to high-performance 1/28-scale pan cars and are still developing race craft, consistency, and traffic management skills.
Open
For experienced drivers seeking the highest level of competition and performance.
This change allows newer racers to gain experience and confidence while still providing a place for the fastest drivers to compete at the highest level.
As always, every rule decision at Area RC is guided by one principle:
GROW THE HOBBY
Thank you to everyone who continues to provide feedback and help make Area RC a better place to race.
