BOUNDLESS EXPRESSIONS ART EXHIBITION
🎨 Boundless Expressions is a new art exhibition being held in McKinney, Texas as a collaboration between the Art Club of McKinney and HUGS Cafe, Inc. at their new world headquarters, 221 Andrews Street.
🖌️ This is an inclusive art exhibition CELEBRATING the creativity of children, teens, and adults with disabilities. This art show is intentionally designed to create a dedicated, supportive, and empowering space where the creative work of children, teens, and adults can be recognized and celebrated.
📆 Artwork will be checked in on Monday, Oct. 5, 8:00am-3:00pm. There is no fee to enter. The exhibition can be viewed by the public Oct. 6th-Oct. 10th, from 8:00am-3:00pm. And, possibly include time to enjoy having lunch at HUGS Cafe when you come to view the exhibition. There will be a Meet the Artist Reception on Saturday, Oct. 10th from 1:00-3:00pm. Artwork can be taken home after the reception or picked up on Monday morning, Oct. 12th from 8:00am-10:00am.
🏆 Boundless Expressions will feature a juried awards program specifically designed to honor artistic achievement, originality, and effort across a range of abilities and experience levels - each participating artist will receive one or more of the following awards: 1) Best Use of Color, 2) Best Use of Composition, 3) Best Use of Media (watercolor, acrylic, collage, drawing, etc.), 4) Best Use of Realism, 5) Best Use of Abstraction, and 6) 3-5 Best of Show Awards in each age group.
🌎 Artists can be from anywhere, but must be able to check in their artwork on Monday, Oct. 5th from 8:00am-3:00pm.
✏️ Pre-registration is required and the deadline to register is Oct. 4th at midnight. It is better to enter as soon as possible as total entries will be capped 120 artworks. It is almost SHOWTIME!

North Texas Giving Day opens on August 27th and concludes on September 17th! This is a very WELCOMED WAY FOR PEOPLE TO GIVE TO AREA NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS! The Art Club of McKinney - a 112 year old totally volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization - NEEDS YOU! We have 155 members and contribute in excess of over 5,000 volunteer hours in the City of McKinney and for the surrounding areas. We collaborate with over 50 businesses and entities and will have 80+ events during our fiscal year of 2026-2027. Please consider supporting our esteemed and valuable work. Huge thank you to Sherri for helping us find a fantastic brunch spot, and a very special thank you to Nancy and Brad Alexander for so graciously opening your beautiful home to us and sharing your incredible collection and hospitality.

City of McKinney Announces: Portrait Showdown Artist Signup

After the rainout, we didn’t want to just reschedule the portrait competition, we wanted to make it better. Whether you plan to compete or not, we would love to see you there.

We’re moving the Portrait Showdown Competition to TUPPS Brewery on May 15, and turning it into a full competition + concert experience. This will be one large party for the arts!

Event Details

May 15
Portrait Showdown | 5:30 – 7:30 PM
$1,000 Grand Prize
Live concert by Evan Boyer immediately following https://www.evanboyermusic.com/
Painters will paint the model live for 2 hours, and at the conclusion, the model will select the winning portrait, bring it to the stage, place it on the golden easel, and the band will kick off the music.

Competition Format & Materials

2-hour live painted portrait session
Easels, canvases, and tables will be provided
Paper towels and rags will be provided
Artists must bring their own paints, brushes, and painting materials
The winner will be selected by the model at the conclusion of the round

What We Need from You:

We’re reopening the field and expanding to up to 40 painters. Please share with every artist you know! We want this to be a spectacular evening.

✨ What a wonderful day of creativity and community! ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Upcycling Fashion Workshop and a special thank you to Chelita McDuffie of That’s Sew Creative! DFW for being our guest instructor. We loved learning, creating, and spending time together in such an inspiring atmosphere.

A huge thank you to MillHouse for the use of their amazing studio space. It was the perfect setting for a creative day together—and their beautiful space is available to rent for workshops, events, and gatherings. ✨

From new ideas to hands-on making, today was a beautiful reminder of how creativity brings people together.
