Eddins Principal Cari Owens Named Principal of Evans Middle School
McKinney ISD is pleased to announce that Eddins Elementary Principal Cari Owens has been chosen to lead Evans Middle School beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.
Owens is a seasoned educator who brings nearly 30 years of experience to her new role, including 12 years as a campus administrator.Her move to Evans follows a successful four-year tenure as principal of Eddins Elementary where she led a school culture built on collaborative leadership and student achievement.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Evans community and begin our work together,” said Owens. “It is a privilege to lead such a talented group of educators, and I look forward to continuing the strong tradition of excellence at Evans Middle School.”
Owens began her career in Louisiana before moving to Texas in 2003. She spent 12 years serving students and families in Frisco ISD before joining McKinney ISD in 2018 as assistant principal at Wilmeth Elementary. She was later named principal of Eddins Elementary, where she has served for the past four years. In her journey as an educator, Owens is well-traveled, having served in a wide variety of roles including parent volunteer, PTA board member, paraprofessional and classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels.
A longtime McKinney resident, Owens and her husband, Dan, have lived in the community for 21 years. They have three adult children and one grandson.
