Today, I smiled differently. ❤️
For the last few months, this arm has taken me through a journey I never expected. There was pain. There were unanswered questions. There were moments when I didn’t know what recovery would look like—or what I would be able to return to.
But somewhere in the middle of being forced to slow down, I started seeing things differently.
I saw my family show up for me.
I saw who could hold space for me when I couldn’t show up as the version of myself everyone was accustomed to.
I saw things change that I thought would remain the same.
And most importantly, I saw myself more clearly.
Today I finally received the news I had been hoping for: no shoulder surgery. 🙌🏾
No tear. I received my injection today, physical therapy is next, and now we heal.
But I’ve realized something: healing started long before today’s appointment.
Sometimes life will interrupt you so completely that you have no choice but to sit inside the stillness. And while you’re asking, “Why is this happening?” life may quietly be showing you what you couldn’t see while you were moving.
These months hurt.
Physically. Emotionally. In ways I didn’t expect.
But they also gave me clarity.
And clarity gave me something I didn’t realize I needed—the freedom to see what comes next differently.
So this smile isn’t just because I don’t need surgery.
It’s gratitude.
It’s relief.
It’s I made it through another hard thing.
It’s knowing there is still healing ahead of me while finally being able to see the other side.
If you’re in a season right now where everything feels interrupted, uncertain, or completely different from what you planned, don’t count yourself out.
Sometimes the interruption becomes the very place where you meet the clearest version of yourself.
Today, I’m grateful for the answers.
I’m grateful for the people who showed up.
I’m grateful for the lessons.
I’m grateful for the journey.
And I’m really, really grateful for this smile. ❤️
Healing looks good from here.
